Trolleybuses In Gdynia
The Gdynia trolleybus system serves the city of Gdynia, Poland. It is one of three remaining trolleybus systems in Poland (the others being those in Lublin and Tychy). The system was opened on 18 September 1943. It consists of 12 lines (numbered from 20 to 31). One stretch with two lines (21 and 31) extend to the neighbouring city of Sopot. As of 2007, its fleet consists of 86 12-metre-long trolleybuses. The system is operated by the Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacji Trolejbusowej (Trolleybus Transport Company, PKT) working under the commission of Zarząd Komunikacji Miejskiej (Public Transport Bureau, ZKM). Solaris Bus & Coach
Solaris Bus & Coach is a Polish producer of public transport vehicles (buses, trolleybuses and trams), with its headquarters in Bolechowo-Osiedle near Poznań. It is a subsidiary of Spanish CAF. Solaris owns four production sites: its main factory and headquarters in Bolechowo (final assembly of buses and trolleybuses), two plants in Środa Wielkopolska (a welding shop for bodyframes of buses and trolleybuses and a welding shop for tram bodies) as well as a final assembling hall for rolling stock, located in Poznań, in Wieruszowska street. The firm arose from the enterprise Neoplan Polska established in 1994. A production facility was launched in Bolechowo-Osiedle near Poznań in 1996. Orłowo, Gdynia
Orłowo is a coastal district of Gdynia, Poland, located in the southern part of the city. Orłowo borders the districts of Redłowo and Mały Kack in the north and west, respectively, and the city of Sopot in the south. Orłowo is best known for the environs of the Orłowo Cliff, pier and beach. Other notable sights include the Żeromski House, where writer Stefan Żeromski lived and worked in 1920, the Kolibki manor and park, a former possession of King John III Sobieski, various historic villas, and a memorial to the Polish 2nd Marine Rifle Regiment, which fought in the area against the German invasion of Poland in 1939. A balloon loop, turning loop, or reversing loop ( North American Terminology) allows a rail vehicle or train to reverse direction without having to shunt or stop. Balloon loops can be useful for passenger trains and unit freight trains. Balloon loops are common on tram and streetcar systems. Henschel
Henschel & Son (german: Henschel und Sohn) was a German company, located in Kassel, best known during the 20th century as a maker of transportation equipment, including locomotives, trucks, buses and trolleybuses, and armoured fighting vehicles and weapons. Georg Christian Carl Henschel founded the factory in 1810 at Kassel. His son Carl Anton Henschel founded another factory in 1837. In 1848, the company began manufacturing locomotives. Gdynia Chylonia Railway Station
Gdynia Chylonia railway station is a railway station serving the city of Gdynia, in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland. The station opened in 1870 and is located in the Chylonia district on the Gdańsk–Stargard railway and the parallel Gdańsk Śródmieście–Rumia railway. The train services are operated by Przewozy Regionalne and SKM Tricity. There is a memorial plaque to Polish General Antoni Heda at the station.
