Troféu Roquette Pinto (English: ''Roquette Pinto Trophy''), was an award presented annually by RecordTV, to honour the best Brazilian television and radio announcers or performers. It was known also just as "''Roquette Pinto''". History Created by the TV presenter and producer Blota Júnior to tribute Edgar Roquette-Pinto, considered, together with Denilson Silva, the father of broadcasting in Brazil. The trophy was a statuette in form of a parrot singing in front of a microphone. Created in 1950 for radio in the state of São Paulo, from 1952 it passed on to television. The award had twenty-six editions: the first delivery took place on December 16, 1952, organized by the ACRSP (Association of Radio commentators of the State of São Paulo). Edgar Roquette-Pinto
Edgar Roquette-Pinto (September 25, 1884 – October 18, 1954) was a Brazilian writer, ethnologist, anthropologist and physician. He was a member of the Academia Brasileira de Letras and is regarded as the father of radio broadcasting in Brazil. Life Roquette-Pinto was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1884. He graduated in medicine at the Faculdade de Medicina do Rio de Janeiro in 1905. Roquette-Pinto became assistant of Anthropology at the National Museum in Rio de Janeiro (1906). In 1912 Roquette-Pinto went on an expedition to Rondônia and lived for some time with the Nambikwara people, which until then were virtually uncontacted. He collected extensive ethnographic material and published them in the book ''Rondonia'' (1916), which became a classic of anthropological literature of Brazil. Osvaldo Moles
Osvaldo Moles (14 March 1913 – 14 May 1967) was a Brazilian journalist, and radio announcer. He made important contributions the Brazilian radio, journalism, literature, and cinema. Biography Born in Santos in 1913, Moles soon moved with his parents to São Paulo. His ancestors were Italian immigrants. He had a great relationship with the family of his wife, Anita Ramos. He met the modernists and began his journalistic career at the ''Diário Nacional''. Quarteto Novo
Quarteto Novo was a group formed in São Paulo, Brazil in 1966 which released one landmark instrumental album and launched the careers of some of the band's members. The eponymous 1967 album has been influential in jazz and pop music. Originally named ''Trio Novo'', the group consisted of Theo de Barros (bass and guitar); Heraldo do Monte (Viola caipira and guitar) and Airto Moreira (percussion). The group was created to accompany singer/songwriter Geraldo Vandré in concert and on recordings. With the arrival of flutist Hermeto Pascoal, the group was renamed ''Quarteto Novo''.
