Tripp is a town in Bayfield County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 231 at the 2010 census. History The town of Tripp was named after Winfield E. Tripp who settled on the Tripp homestead in the territory on October 14, 1890. Tripp was born in York County, Maine, on October 14, 1851. Tripp Territory was originally a part of the territory of Iron River, Wisconsin. On May 8, 1911, the legislature of Wisconsin created the town of Tripp from the north half of Iron River's territory. The first town meeting was held eight days later on the 16th of May at the Winfield E. Tripp home. The meeting was called to order by W.E. Tripp, and a special election board of three men was appointed, namely C.H. Townsend, R.E. Buck and Andrew Paulson, duly sworn. The inspectors of election appointed W.E. Tripp County is a county in the U.S. state of South Dakota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 5,624. Its county seat is Winner. The county was created in 1873, and was organized in 1909. It is named for lawyer, judge, and diplomat Bartlett Tripp. Geography Tripp County lies on the south line of South Dakota. Its south boundary is the Nebraska state line, while its north boundary is the meandering White River. The Keya Paha River flows east-southeasterly through the lower part of the county. The county terrain is composed of rolling hills carved by gullies and drainages. The county terrain generally slopes to the south and east, although its upper portion drops northward into the White River valley. Tripp Family Homestead, also known as "Tripp House", is a historic house at 1101 N. Main Avenue in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. The oldest portion of the house was built around 1771 by Isaac Tripp, Scranton's first settler. Isaac Tripp II began later modification around 1778 and Isaac Tripp III further renovated the home in 1812, which left the building in a Federal style. Tripp House and Store Complex is a historic home and general store complex located at Durham in Greene County, New York. The complex includes the Tripp House (c. 1830), the Original Tripp Store (c. 1830) and 1888 Tripp Store, a barn (c. 1830), Outhouse (c. 1870), and two outbuildings / sheds (c. 1890). The house is a 2-story, five by two-bay, central hall, single pile plan brick dwelling. It sits on a stone foundation and is surmounted by a steep gable roof.
