Trinité–d'Estienne d'Orves () is a metro station, station on Paris Métro Line 12, Line 12 of the Paris Métro in the commercial centre of Paris and the 9th arrondissement of Paris, 9th arrondissement. History The station opened on 5 November 1910 as part of the original section of the Nord-Sud Company's Line A between Porte de Versailles (Paris Métro), Porte de Versailles and Notre-Dame-de-Lorette (Paris Métro), Notre-Dame-de-Lorette. On 27 March 1931 Line A became Line 12 of the Métro network. The station is named after the nearby church of the ''Église de la Ste.-Trinité, Paris, Trinité'' and the ''Place d'Estienne d'Orves'', named after Henri Honoré d'Estienne d'Orves (1901–1941), a French Navy officer and French Resistance, Resistance fighter. The Paris Métro (french: Métro de Paris ; short for Métropolitain ) is a rapid transit system in the Paris metropolitan area, France. A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. Casino De Paris
The Casino de Paris, located at 16, rue de Clichy, in the 9th arrondissement, is one of the well known music halls of Paris, with a history dating back to the 18th century. Contrary to what the name might suggest, it is a performance venue, not a gambling house. The closest métro/RER stations are Liège, Trinité – d'Estienne d'Orves, and Haussmann – Saint-Lazare. The first building at this location where shows could be mounted was erected by the Duc de Richelieu around 1730, while after the Revolution the site was renamed Jardin de Tivoli and was the venue for fireworks displays. Théâtre De Paris
The Théâtre de Paris is a theatre located at 15, rue Blanche in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. It includes a second smaller venue, the Petit Théâtre de Paris. History The first theatre on the site was built by the Duke of Richelieu in 1730. Baron Ogny bought it in 1779 and renamed it Folie-Richelieu. Then during the First Empire it was directed by Fortunée Hamelin, a celebrated member of the ''Merveilleuses'' ("marvelous women") of the Directoire era. In 1811, the Folie-Richelieu was transformed into a park, then demolished completely in 1851 in the redevelopment under Baron Haussmann. Henri Honoré D'Estienne D'Orves
Henri Honoré d'Estienne d'Orves (, 3 June 1901 – 29 August 1941) was a French Navy officer and one of the major heroes of the French Resistance, said to be the "first martyr of Free France". Early life He was born in Verrières-le-Buisson (now in the Essonne department). Educated in a conservative Catholic family, he was a remote cousin of writers Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and Louise de Vilmorin, later companion of André Malraux. Estienne d'Orves spent the First World War as a high school student at the prestigious Lycée Louis-le-Grand and the Lycée Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague in Paris, and entered the École Polytechnique in 1921. He joined the ''École Navale'', (French Naval Academy), two years later, becoming an '' enseigne de vaisseau de 2e classe'' in October 1923 and joining the school ship ''Jeanne d'Arc''.
