This page shows the results of the triathlon competition at the 2002 South American Games, held on August 10, 2002 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. For the second time the sport was a part of the multi-sports event. The race (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running) started at the Copacabana Beach (Posto 6). Triathlon
A triathlon is an endurance multisport race consisting of Swimming (sport), swimming, Cycle sport, cycling, and running over various distances. Triathletes compete for fastest overall completion time, racing each segment sequentially with the time transitioning between the disciplines included. The word is of Greek language, Greek origin, from τρεῖς or ''treis'' (three) and ἆθλος or ''athlos'' (competition). The sport originated in the late 1970s in Southern California as sports clubs and individuals developed the sport. This history has meant that #Nonstandard variations, variations of the sport were created and still exist. Ana Cecilia Herrera Gómez is an Ecuadorian politician who was elected to the National Assembly of Ecuador. She was re-elected in 2023. Life Herrera represents the province of Cotopaxi at the National Assembly of Ecuador. She occupies seat number 31. Nancy Judith Álvarez (born June 3, 1976) is an Argentine triathlete who represented her country in the second Olympic triathlon at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Víctor Fernández Braulio (born 28 November 1960) is a Spanish football manager. He had three spells with his hometown team Zaragoza, winning the Copa del Rey in 1994 and the Cup Winners' Cup a year later. He also led Tenerife, Celta Vigo, Real Betis and Deportivo La Coruña in La Liga, and won the Intercontinental Cup in a brief spell at Porto in 2004.
