Tri-Institutional MD–PhD Program
The Tri-Institutional MD–PhD Program is a MD–PhD degree program based in Upper East Side, New York City. Introduced in 1991, the current program is operated by Weill Cornell Medicine, Rockefeller University, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's Sloan Kettering Institute. Tri-Institutional CBM Program
The Tri-Institutional Training Program in Computational Biology and Medicine or Tri-I CBM is a PhD program that exists as a partnership between the Weill Cornell Medical College (WMC), Rockefeller University, and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC). The program is in part designed to encourage collaboration and a sense of connectedness between the two branches of Cornell University and the other institutions in Manhattan (namely, MSKCC and the Rockefeller). Dr. Christina Leslie is the current director of the program. Program Students may choose a thesis advisor from any of the three institutions for the completion of their PhD. The Medical Scientist Training Programs (MSTPs) are dual-degree training programs that streamline the education towards both clinical (typically MD) and research doctoral degrees. MSTPs are offered by some United States medical schools, who are awarded financial support from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, a branch of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The goal of these training programs is to produce physician scientists who can translate laboratory discoveries into effective treatments for patients.
