"Treehouse of Horror XXVII" is the fourth episode of the twenty-eighth season of the American animated television series ''The Simpsons'', the 27th episode in the ''Treehouse of Horror'' series of Halloween specials, and the 600th episode of the series overall. The episode was directed by Steven Dean Moore and written by Joel H. Cohen. It aired in the United States on Fox on October 16, 2016. Plot The episode opens with the Simpsons in their Halloween costumes with Homer dressed as Bender, Maggie as Charlie Chaplin, Lisa as a recycle-bin and Bart as a pterodactyl visiting a Christmas tree lot early on Halloween, only to be locked in and ambushed by Sideshow Bob, the leprechaun from ''Treehouse of Horror XII'', the ghost of Frank Grimes, and Kang. Steven Dean Moore
Steven Dean Moore is an American animation director. His credits include 65 episodes of the animated television series ''The Simpsons'' and several episodes of the Nickelodeon series ''Rugrats'' (1991–2004). Moore was also one of four sequence directors on ''The Simpsons Movie'' (2007). He was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2002. Moore's earliest credit is one of the principal animators on Filmation's last major production, ''BraveStarr''. Google Cardboard is a discontinued virtual reality (VR) platform developed by Google. Named for its fold-out cardboard viewer into which a smartphone is inserted, the platform was intended as a low-cost system to encourage interest and development in VR applications. Users can either build their own viewer from simple, low-cost components using specifications published by Google, or purchase a pre-manufactured one. In religion and folklore, hell is a location in the afterlife in which evil souls are subjected to punitive suffering, most often through torture, as eternal punishment after death. Alex (A Clockwork Orange)
Alex is a fictional character in Anthony Burgess's novel ''A Clockwork Orange'' and Stanley Kubrick's film adaptation of the same name, in which he is played by Malcolm McDowell. Margaret Evelyn Lenny "Maggie" Simpson is a fictional character in the animated television series ''The Simpsons'' and a part of the Simpson family, notably the youngest member. Kang and Kodos Johnson are a duo of fictional recurring characters in the animated television series ''The Simpsons''. Kang is voiced by Harry Shearer and Kodos by Dan Castellaneta. A leprechaun ( ga, leipreachán/luchorpán) is a diminutive supernatural being in Irish folklore, classed by some as a type of solitary fairy. They are usually depicted as little bearded men, wearing a coat and hat, who partake in mischief.
