Doctor (title)
Doctor is an Academic degree, academic title that originates from the Latin word of the same spelling and meaning. The word is originally an Agent noun, agentive noun of the Latin verb 'to teach'. It has been used as an academic title in Europe since the 13th century, when the first doctorates were awarded at the University of Bologna and the University of Paris. Having become established in European universities, this usage spread around the world. Contracted "Dr" or "Dr.", it is used as a designation for a person who has obtained a doctorate (commonly a Doctor of Philosophy, PhD). In past usage, the term could be applied to any learned person. In many parts of the world today it is also used by medical practitioners, regardless of whether they hold a doctoral-level Academic degree, degree. Doc McStuffins
''Doc McStuffins'' is an animated children's television series created by Chris Nee and produced by Brown Bag Films. It aired for five seasons on Disney Jr. from March 23, 2012, to April 18, 2020. The series centers on a girl who fixes toys, with help from her four toy friends. The series features songs written and composed by Michelle Lewis, Kay Hanley, and Dan Petty. The series received positive reviews due to the series' concept and the main character, as well as its portrayal of African Americans (Nee stated in 2013 that Doc is African American, as proposed by Disney during her initial pitch, Nee initially only knowing she wanted a girl doctor) in a Disney series. Doc Savage
Doc Savage is a fictional character of the competent man hero type, who first appeared in American pulp magazines during the 1930s and 1940s. Real name Clark Savage Jr., he is a polymathic scientist, explorer, detective, and warrior who "rights wrongs and punishes evildoers." He was created by publisher Henry W. Ralston and editor John L. Nanovic at Street & Smith Publications, with additional material contributed by the series' main writer, Lester Dent. Doc Savage stories were published under the Kenneth Robeson name. The illustrations were by Walter Baumhofer, Paul Orban, Emery Clarke, Modest Stein, and Robert G. Harris. The heroic-adventure character would go on to appear in other media, including radio, film, and comic books, with his adventures reprinted for modern-day audiences in a series of paperback books, which had sold over 20 million copies by 1979. Dr. Emmett Lathrop Brown, commonly referred to as "Doc Brown", is a fictional scientist in the ''Back to the Future'' franchise. He was created by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale. First appearing in the 1985 film ''Back to the Future'', he is an eccentric mad scientist and friend to the protagonist Marty McFly. In the franchise, he invents a time machine using a DMC DeLorean. Doc Daneeka
Doc Daneeka is a fictional character in the 1961 novel '' Catch-22'' by Joseph Heller. Doc Daneeka is the squadron physician and a friend of the novel's protagonist, Yossarian. "Catch-22" itself is first explained in the novel when Yossarian asks Doc Daneeka to excuse him from combat duty. Doc Daneeka is also the title of Chapter 4 of the novel. Doc (cartoon Character)
Hickory, Dickory, and Doc are fictional cartoon characters created by Alex Lovy for Walter Lantz Productions. Lovy would feature the trio in three cartoons until his departure in 1960. Jack Hannah would soon feature Doc in his six more cartoons soon afterwards. History Alex Lovy first introduced Hickory, Dickory, and Doc in the 1959 cartoon ''Space Mouse'', in which Doc attempts to sell the mice to NASA as test animals. Lovy's shorts mainly follow the contemporary cat-and-mouse chase formula of the time, with Doc usually failing to catch the more cunning Hickory and Dickory. These cartoons also featured the bulldog character Cecil, who often beats up Doc whenever he falls victim to his failed chases.
