''Transition'' is the second album by American Contemporary R&B, R&B singer-songwriter and producer Ryan Leslie. This is the second album by Leslie released in 2009, nine months after his self-titled debut album. The entire album is written, arranged, produced and engineered by Ryan Leslie. It was inspired by a lady whom Leslie met during a rehearsal for his showcase at New York City, New York's S.O.B.'s. They went on to have a relationship during the summer of 2009, which the album tells the story of. The first single for the album is entitled "You're Not My Girl", which was released in July 2009. The second single "I Choose You" was released in January 2010. The album was nominated for Best Contemporary R&B album at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards. The Album has sold 60,000 copies in US. Anthony Ryan Leslie (born September 25, 1978) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and entrepreneur from Washington, D.C. He has produced singles for a number of prominent artists in a variety of genres, ranging from R&B, hip hop, pop and gospel. Artists Leslie has worked with include Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Puff Daddy, LL Cool J, Kid Cudi, Kanye West, Usher, Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, and Fabolous. From 2005 to 2006, he has his prime commercial success to date with Cassie, whom signed to Leslie's NextSelection label imprint in a joint venture with Bad Boy Records. Contemporary R&B
Contemporary R&B (or simply R&B) is a popular music genre that combines rhythm and blues with elements of pop, soul, funk, hip hop, and electronic music. The genre features a distinctive record production style, drum machine-backed rhythms, pitch corrected vocals, and a smooth, lush style of vocal arrangement. Electronic influences are becoming an increasing trend and the use of hip hop or dance-inspired beats are typical, although the roughness and grit inherent in hip hop may be reduced and smoothed out. Contemporary R&B vocalists often use melisma, and since the mid-1980s, R&B rhythms have been combined with elements of hip hop culture and music and pop culture and pop music. Casablanca Records is an American record label owned by Universal Music Group and operated under Republic Records. Under its founder Neil Bogart, Casablanca was most successful during the disco era of the mid to late 1970s. The label currently focuses on dance and electronic music under the direction of Brett Alperowitz. Terrence LeVarr Thornton (born May 13, 1977), better known by his stage name Pusha T, is an American rapper, songwriter and record executive.
