Colonial Athletic Association
The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the NCAA's Division I whose full members are located in East Coast states from Massachusetts to South Carolina. Most of its members are public universities, and the conference is headquartered in Richmond. The CAA was historically a Southern conference until the addition of four schools in the Northeast (of five that joined from rival conference America East) after the turn of the 21st century, which added geographic balance to the conference. The CAA was founded in 1979 as the ECAC South basketball league. It was renamed the Colonial Athletic Association in 1985 when it added championships in other sports (although a number of members maintain ECAC affiliation in some sports). Terry Truax
Terry Truax (June 10, 1945 – February 15, 2015) was an American basketball coach, best known for his tenure as head coach for Towson University from 1983 to 1997. Truax played college basketball at Maryland before embarking on his coaching career. Truax was an assistant to Morgan Wootten at DeMatha Catholic High School in 1969–70. Justin Gorham
Justin Terrell Gorham (born August 6, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for Rytas Vilnius of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). He played college basketball for the Towson Tigers and the Houston Cougars. High school career Gorham attended Calvert Hall College High School in Towson, Maryland. A three-star recruit, he committed to playing college basketball for Towson. He was drawn to the program in part due to its proximity, allowing him to be close to his father, who had been diagnosed with duodenal cancer. College career As a freshman at Towson, Gorham averaged 2.8 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. He averaged 9.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game as a sophomore, despite playing through an ankle sprain. The Vegas 16 tournament was a postseason men's college basketball tournament. The tournament was managed by Lexington, Kentucky-based sports marketing firm bd Global. The tournament featured eight teams not selected for the NCAA Tournament or the NIT. The lone tournament took place March 28–30, 2016, at Mandalay Bay, in Paradise, Nevada. The tournament field and seedings were announced after the NCAA Tournament field was revealed. CBS Sports Network was the television partner for the quarters, semis, and finals. Former UNLV and Arizona athletic director Jim Livengood was the chair of the tournament. George Raveling, Debbie Antonelli, John Balistere and Brooks Downing were on the selection committee. The National Invitational Tournament (NIT) is a men's college basketball tournament operated by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Played at regional sites and traditionally at Madison Square Garden (Final Four) in New York City each March and April, it was founded in 1938 and was originally the most prestigious post-season showcase for college basketball. The 2021 tournament, in which all games were played in Denton and Frisco, Texas, marked the first time that the NIT's semifinals and championship games were not hosted at Madison Square Garden; MSG won't play host to the games entirely starting in 2023. 2022 National Invitation Tournament
The 2022 National Invitation Tournament was a single-elimination tournament of 32 NCAA Division I men's college basketball teams not selected to participate in the 2022 NCAA tournament. The tournament began on March 15 and ended on March 31. The first three rounds were played on campuses, with the semi-final and championship final played at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Participants Teams and pairings for the 2022 NIT were released by the NIT Committee at 9 p.m. Eastern time Sunday, March 13, on ESPNU. The 2016 Vegas 16 Tournament was a single-elimination postseason men's basketball tournament won by Old Dominion. The tournament consisted of eight National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I teams that did not receive bids to the NCAA tournament or the NIT. Old Dominion defeated Oakland 68–67 in the championship game. Games were played at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Paradise, Nevada.
