Townsville Entertainment And Convention Centre
Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre is an indoor sports arena located in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. The capacity of the arena is 5,257 and was built in 1993. Tenants From 1993 until the end of the 2013–14 NBL season, the centre was the home arena of the Townsville Crocodiles basketball team. During Crocodiles games, the venue was commonly referred to as "The Swamp". Due to a downturn in attendance figures, the Crocs played at the Townsville RSL Stadium during the 2014–15 NBL season. In May 2015, the Crocodiles announced they would be returning to "The Swamp" for the 2015–16 season. In 2021, the centre is set to become the new home arena for the Townsville Fire women's basketball team, ahead of the 2021–22 WNBL season. Townsville is a city on the north-eastern coast of Queensland, Australia. With a population of 180,820 as of June 2018, it is the largest settlement in North Queensland; it is unofficially considered its capital. Estimated resident population, 30 June 2018. The 2014–15 NBL season was the 37th season of competition since its establishment in 1979. A total of eight teams contested the league. The regular season was played between 10 October 2014 and 22 February 2015, followed by a post-season featuring the top four in late February and March 2015. 2021–22 WNBL Season
The 2021–22 WNBL season is the 42nd season of the competition since its establishment in 1981. The Southside Flyers were the defending champions, however they failed to qualify for finals. The Melbourne Boomers won their second championship, defeating Perth in the Grand Final series, 2–1. After the 2020 season was condensed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was confirmed in July 2021 that the upcoming season is set to be closer to the traditional season fixture played over several months across the summer. In October 2021, a new broadcast deal was signed with the ABC, Fox Sports and Kayo, with an 84-game season fixture announced shortly after. Townsville RSL Stadium
The Townsville Stadium (previously Townsville RSL Stadium) is a multi-purpose indoor venue located at the Murray Sporting Complex in Annandale, Queensland. The facility features an international standard wooden sports floor, multi-purpose function rooms, a public gym, stadium administration and the Townsville City Council. The Stadium, which opened in 2011, is owned and operated by the City of Townsville, has a total spectator capacity of 2,500 (1,700 seated) and is the home court of the Townsville Fire ( WNBL). From the 2014–15 NBL season, the Townsville Crocodiles moved out of their long time home, the Townsville Entertainment Centre, and into the RSL Stadium.
