Toto Vs. The Black Pirate
''Totò vs. the Black Pirate'' ( it, Totò contro il pirata nero) is a 1964 Italian adventure-comedy film written and directed by Fernando Cerchio. Plot José is a Neapolitan petty thief who escaping from the guards for a small theft hides himself in a barrel of Jamaican rum of on the quay of the port of Naples. Giacomo Furia
Giacomo Matteo Furia (2 January 1925 – 5 June 2015) was an Italian film, television and stage actor. He appeared in more than 130 films between 1948 and 1998. Life and career Born in Arienzo, near Caserta, Furia started his acting career thanks to Eduardo De Filippo, he had met through an after-school summer job; he made his professional debut on stage in 1945, in De Filippo's "Napoli milionaria". He made his film debut three years later, in Mario Mattoli's '' Assunta Spina''; mainly cast in character roles, he was often a sidekick of Totò, notably landing a major role in ''The Band of Honest Men''. His credits include films directed by Federico Fellini, Vittorio De Sica, Roberto Rossellini and Francesco Rosi. In 1997 Furia released an autobiography written in collaboration with Michele Avitabile, ''Le maggiorate, il principe e l'ultimo degli onesti''. He died on 5 June 2015, aged 90. Pietro Carloni (28 October 1896 – 3 August 1968) was an Italian stage and film actor. Life and career Born in Taurisano, Lecce into a family of actors, Carloni debuted on stage at young age in the theatrical company held by Ernesto Murolo. In 1921 he met on stage Titina De Filippo, whom he married one year later and with whom he started a long professional association, appearing in almost all her stage works. Carloni was also active in films and in television miniseries, mainly cast in character roles. His siblings Ester, Maria, Adelina and Ettore were fellow actors. His sister Adelina (or Adele) Carloni married his wife Titina's brother Peppino De Filippo. Well-known actor Eduardo De Filippo was another of his wife's siblings.
