''Toto Looks for a Wife'' (Italian: ''Totò cerca moglie'') is a 1950 Italian comedy film directed by Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia and starring Totò, Ave Ninchi and Marisa Merlini.Moliterno, Gino. Plot In 1950 in Australia, Aunt Agatha writes to her nephew Toto, informing him she won't send him more money to live Italy until he gets married. Toto is in fact a happy bachelor who dabbles in sculpture and lives in luxury off his aunt's money. Now Toto's lifestyle is threatened and he's forced to find a partner before his aunt comes to Rome to meet the new couple. Thanks to a friend (Aroldo Tieri), Toto is helped, but the women are horrible or already ammogliate, which causes many misunderstandings. Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia
Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia (8 July 1894 – 4 January 1998) was an Italian film director whose career spanned from the 1930s to the mid-1960s. He mainly directed adventure pictures and popular comedies, including some starring Totò. His 1942 film ''Non ti pago!'' was shown as part of a retrospective on Italian comedy at the 67th Venice International Film Festival. Biography Bragaglia was born in Frosinone, Latium, and was a veteran of World War I. He was wounded in action, and subsequently received a medal. Upon his discharge, Bragaglia and his brother Arturo began to experiment with photography. He later connected with Anton Giulio, another brother, to found the Casa d'arte Bragaglio. The establishment quickly became a popular attraction for Rome artists. Bragaglio then founded an independent theater and launched his theatrical career. Anna Maestri (7 January 1924 – 4 March 1988) was an Italian stage, film and television actress. Life and career Maestri was born in Mantua, the daughter of two stage actors. She formed at the Silvio d’Amico Academy of Dramatic Arts in Rome, and made her professional debut on stage in 1943 alongside Vittorio Gassman. Zoe Incrocci (21 September 1917 – 6 November 2003) was an Italian actress and voice actress. Biography Born in Brescia, Incrocci was the older sister of the screenwriter Agenore Incrocci.
