Geography The crofting and fishing village of Torrin lies on the eastern shore of Loch Slapin, southwest of Broadford (''An t-Àth Leathann''), on the road to Elgol (''Ealaghol''). There is a mixture of Victorian white-washed cottages and modern flat-pack houses, and the village has good views of Blaven and Loch Slapin. Torrin sits on dolomites, informally referred to collectively as the "Durness Limestone". There is an abundance of trees and varied plant flora, including more than a dozen species of orchids. Much of the area is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation. There are five working crofts in Torrin with cattle and sheep. 	Torrin Lawrence Torrin Lawrence (April 11, 1989 – July 28, 2014) was an American sprinter who competed in the 400 meters. He ran for the University of Georgia. Career Torrin attended Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, Florida, though he did not start competing in track and field until his junior year. Lawrence ran the three fastest indoor 400m times in the world in 2010 with his 45.03 clocking at the Tyson Invitational, his 45.10 at the SEC Men's Indoor Championships, and his 45.23 at NCAAs. His 45.03 is the seventh fastest indoor 400m in history. Lawrence held the NCAA record in the indoor 300m, having run 32.32 at the 2010 Hokie Invitational, which was the fifth fastest time in history. 	Torrin Tucker Torrin Tucker (born December 25, 1979) is a former American football offensive tackle in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys. He also was a member of the New York Dragons, Florida Tuskers and Sacramento Mountain Lions. He played college football at Southern Mississippi. Early years Tucker attended Southeast Lauderdale High School. As a senior defensive tackle, he posted 87 tackles, while scoring touchdowns on a fumble return and a blocked punt. He received All-district 7-2A, Most Valuable Defensive Lineman in the district and second-team All-state honors. He accepted a football scholarship from the University of Southern Mississippi.
