Tornado Outbreak Sequence Of May 5–10, 2015
The tornado outbreak sequence of May 5–10, 2015 was a six-day outbreak of tornado activity that affected the Great Plains of the United States in early May 2015. On May 6, strong tornadoes impacted the Oklahoma City area, along with rural parts of Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, South Dakota, and Nebraska. The outbreak coincided with major flooding, with large amounts of rain falling in parts of Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. The National Weather Service forecast office in Norman, Oklahoma issued a " flash flood emergency" for Oklahoma City following record-breaking rainfall that occurred in the area that evening. The outbreak sequence resulted in five tornado-related deaths, along with two flood-related deaths. A total of 127 tornadoes were confirmed and rated as a result of this outbreak sequence. Cisco, Texas
Cisco is a city in Eastland County, Texas. The population was 3,899 at the time of the 2010 census. History Cisco, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 183 and Interstate 20 in northwestern Eastland County, traces its history back to 1878 or 1879, when Rev. C. G. Stevens arrived in the area, established a post office and a church, and called the frontier settlement "Red Gap". About six families were already living nearby, and W. T. Caldwell was running a store a half mile to the west. In 1881, the Houston and Texas Central Railway crossed the Texas and Pacific, which had come through the year before, at a point near Red Gap, and the settlement's inhabitants moved their town to the crossing. Bridge Creek, Oklahoma
Bridge Creek is a town in Grady County, Oklahoma, United States. As of the 2010 census, the town population was 336. History Bridge Creek was incorporated as a town in 2000. The town proper and the unincorporated areas that its limits enclose are part of a rapidly growing area of northern McClain and Grady counties known as the "Tri-City Area" with Newcastle, Tuttle and Blanchard. Scandia is a city in Republic County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 344. History The first American flag to be flown in what is now Kansas was raised in 1806 near the area of Scandia. The area was not settled until much later by Swedish immigrants and was first called New Scandinavia. The settlement of Scandia was promoted by crop failures during the 1860s in Sweden.
