The Milvian (or Mulvian) Bridge ( it, Ponte Milvio or ; la, Pons Milvius or ) is a bridge over the Tiber in northern Rome, Italy. It was an economically and strategically important bridge in the era of the Roman Empire and was the site of the famous Battle of the Milvian Bridge in 312, which led to the imperial rule of Constantine. Early history A bridge was built by consul Gaius Claudius Nero in 206 BC after he had defeated the Carthaginian army in the Battle of the Metaurus. In 109 BC, censor Marcus Aemilius Scaurus built a new bridge of stone in the same position, demolishing the old one. In 63 BC, letters from the conspirators of the Catiline conspiracy were intercepted here, allowing Cicero to read them to the Roman Senate the next day. Parioli
Parioli () is the 2nd ''quartiere'' of Rome, identified by the initials Q. II. The toponym is also used to indicate the urbanistic area 2B of the '' Municipio Roma II''. The name comes from Monti Parioli, a series of tufa hills, and was given to the area before its incorporation into the city proper at the beginning of the 20th century. Some suggest that the name stems from "peraioli," as it was once the site of pear orchards. __TOC__ History Parioli is among the first 15 ''quartieri'' of the city that were built beyond the Aurelian Walls, originally delimited in 1911 and officially established in 1921. Parioli began as an upper-class district in the first years of 20th century, with the construction of Viale Parioli, sponsored by two major landowners of the area, Filonardi and Giorgi. In their project, the new thoroughfare is conceived as a "city promenade", a tree-lined street with a lateral riding track and flanked by elegant houses. Viale Parioli was then extended up t ...

Aniene
The Aniene (; la, Aniō), formerly known as the Teverone, is a river in Lazio, Italy. It originates in the Apennines at Trevi nel Lazio and flows westward past Subiaco, Vicovaro, and Tivoli to join the Tiber in northern Rome. It formed the principal valley east of ancient Rome and became an important water source as the city's population expanded. The falls at Tivoli were noted for their beauty. Historic bridges across the river include the Ponte Nomentano, Ponte Mammolo, Ponte Salario, and Ponte di San Francesco, all of which were originally fortified with towers. Name It was known to the Romans as ''Aniō''; this is of unknown etymology, but Francisco Villar Liebana has suggested a root *''an''- that is found in many river names, such as the Ana (Guadiana) and Anisus ( Enns). Plutarch derived the name from a mythical Etruscan king Anius who drowned in the river. History The confluence of the Aniene and Tiber was controlled by Antemnae, a Latin settlement on a hill just to ...

Quarters Of Rome
The Quarters of Rome (Italian: ''quartieri di Roma'') are the areas in and around the Italian city of Rome which became urbanised after the foundation of the last city-centre rione, Prati. They form the second level of administrative sub-divisions of Roma Capitale. Together they cover 171.38 km2 and hold 1483913 inhabitants. History The first 15 quarters were officially founded and numbered in 1926, after first being drafted in 1911. Regions Of Italy
The regions of Italy ( it, regioni d'Italia) are the first-level administrative divisions of the Italian Republic, constituting its second NUTS administrative level. There are twenty regions, five of which have higher autonomy than the rest. Under the Italian Constitution, each region is an autonomous entity with defined powers. With the exception of the Aosta Valley (since 1945) and Friuli-Venezia Giulia (since 2018), each region is divided into a number of provinces (''province''). History During the Kingdom of Italy, regions were mere statistical districts of the central state. Under the Republic, they were granted a measure of political autonomy by the 1948 Italian Constitution. The original draft list comprised the Salento region (which was eventually included in Apulia); ''Friuli'' and ''Venezia Giulia'' were separate regions, and Basilicata was named ''Lucania''. Abruzzo and Molise were identified as separate regions in the first draft, but were later merged into ''Abru ...
