''Topsy and Eva'' is a 1927 American drama silent film directed by Del Lord and written by Catherine Chisholm Cushing, Scott Darling, Dudley Early and Lois Weber. D. W. Griffith also directed additional scenes. It is based on the two key female figures in Harriet Beecher Stowe's 1852 classic novel ''Uncle Tom's Cabin''. The film stars Rosetta Duncan, Vivian Duncan, Gibson Gowland, Noble Johnson and Marjorie Daw. The film was released on July 24, 1927, by United Artists. Del Lord
Delmer "Del" Lord (October 7, 1894March 23, 1970) was a Canadians, Canadian film director and actor best known as a director of Three Stooges films. Career Delmer Lord was born in the small town of Grimsby, Ontario, Canada. Interested in the theatre, he traveled to New York City, then when fellow Canadian Mack Sennett offered him a job at his new Keystone Studios, Lord went on to work in Hollywood, California. There he played the driver of the Keystone Cops police van, appearing in many of the Cops' successful films. Given a chance to direct, Del Lord became a specialist in automotive gags, rigging cars to explode, crash, fall apart, or dangle in precarious positions. Lord was responsible for a number of very successful comedies for Keystone and directed two feature films for Universal Studios, Universal Pictures. Henry Victor (2 October 1892 – 15 March 1945) was an English-born character actor who had his highest profile in the film silent era, he appeared in numerous film roles in Britain, before emigrating to the US in 1939 where he continued his career. Biography Victor was born in London, England, but was raised in Germany, he made his film debut as Prince Andreas in '' The King's Romance'' (1914). He appeared in literary interpreted pieces such as ''The Picture of Dorian Gray'' (1916) and the Graham Cutts-directed '' The White Shadow'' (1923). Victor is probably best remembered for his portrayal of the circus strongman Hercules in Tod Browning's film ''Freaks'' (1932). The role was originally considered for Victor McLaglen, with whom Browning had worked previously. Victor emigrated to America in 1939.
