Tony Parsons (born 1939) is a Canadian broadcaster whose career has spanned more than 50 years, and he has anchored the second most-watched local evening Television newscast in North America, the ''News Hour'' on Global BC in Vancouver, British Columbia. He was the co-anchor of '' CBC News: Vancouver'' on CBUT-DT with Gloria Macarenko, and the 10 PM newscast on CHEK-DT. Parsons' father was a flight-lieutenant in the Royal Air Force. His mother was of Italian descent. His family immigrated to Canada from England in 1948, settling in Feversham, Ontario. After a year studying radio and television arts at the Ryerson Institute in Toronto, he looked for work at Ontario radio stations and eventually shortened his name from Parsonage to Tony Parsons. Tony Victor Parsons (born 6 November 1953) is an English journalist, broadcaster, and author. He began his career as a music journalist for ''New Musical Express'' (''NME''), writing about punk music. Later he wrote for ''The Daily Telegraph'', before going on to write for the ''Daily Mirror'' for 18 years. Since September 2013, Parsons has written a column for '' The Sun''. He was for a time a regular guest on the BBC Two arts review programme ''The Late Show'', and appeared infrequently on the successor ''Newsnight Review''; he also briefly hosted a series on Channel 4 called ''Big Mouth''. Parsons is the author of the novel '' Man and Boy'' (1999). He had previously written a number of novels including ''The Kids'' (1976), ''Platinum Logic'' (1981) and ''Limelight Blues'' (1983). 2014 World Snooker Championship
The 2014 World Snooker Championship (officially the 2014 Dafabet World Snooker Championship) was a professional snooker tournament that took place from 19 April to 5 May 2014 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, England. It was the 38th consecutive year that the World Snooker Championship had been held at the Crucible. The tournament was also the last ranking event of the 2013–14 snooker season. The event was sponsored by Dafabet for the first time. A qualifying tournament was held from 8 to 16 April 2014 at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield for 16 players, who met 16 seeded participants at the main championships. Ronnie O'Sullivan was the defending champion, having won the previous year's event by defeating Barry Hawkins in the final. Mark Selby won the 2014 event to capture his first world title by defeating O'Sullivan 18–14 in the final. Anthony Parsons
Sir Anthony Derrick Parsons (9 September 1922 – 12 August 1996) was a British diplomat, ambassador to Iran at the time of the Iranian Revolution and Permanent Representative to the UN at the time of the Falklands War. Career Anthony Parsons was educated at King's School, Canterbury. He served as an artillery officer during the Second World War and was awarded the Military Cross at the end of the war in August 1945. He was then given the opportunity to read Oriental Languages at Balliol College, Oxford as an apprenticeship to a career in the diplomatic service and achieved a First Class degree. He remained in the army to serve as Assistant Military Attaché in Baghdad 1952–54. Parsons joined the Foreign Office in 1954 and served in the British embassies in Ankara, Amman, Cairo and Khartoum, and was Political Agent in Bahrain 1965–69. Anthony Nathan Parsons (born 3 November 1989) is a singer-songwriter, producer, and entertainer from England. He has released eleven singles and one extended play to date. Career Growing up, Parsons displayed some musical ability, playing the keyboard and writing snippets of songs. In 2007, Parsons began his music career by posting videos on YouTube featuring himself singing cover songs. These would be recorded in the style of him sitting and facing a camera whilst singing into a hand-held microphone. Most of these early videos were recorded whilst Parsons was working on a night shift as a security guard and the background in his videos often featured various workplace settings.
