Tony Martin (rugby League)
Tony Martin (born 7 October 1978) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who last played for Hull in the Super League. He previously played for Crusaders Rugby League and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in the Super League. Martin moved back to England from New Zealand Warriors on 31 July 2007 after two spells with the London Broncos either side of a move to Australia with Melbourne Storm. Early life Martin played his junior rugby league for Gladstone Wallabies. He was one of seven Queensland juniors given scholarships by the London Broncos. Playing career Martin made his NRL debut for Melbourne Storm in Round 7 of the 1998 NRL season. He established himself as starting left centre inside winger Marcus Bai. St George Illawarra Dragons
The St. George Illawarra Dragons is an Australian professional rugby league football club, representing both the Illawarra and St George regions of New South Wales. The club has competed in the National Rugby League since 1999 after a joint-venture was formed between the St. George Dragons (est. 1921) and the Illawarra Steelers (est. 1982). They officially formed as the game's first joint-venture club on 23 September 1998 and it remains the only inter-city team in the NRL. The team has its headquarters and leagues clubs in both Wollongong and the Sydney suburb of Kogarah, and trains and plays games regularly at WIN Stadium in Wollongong, as well as at Jubilee Oval in Kogarah. The State of Origin series is an annual best-of-three rugby league series between two Australian state representative sides, the New South Wales Blues and the Queensland Maroons. Referred to as “Australian sport's greatest rivalry”, the State of Origin series is one of Australia's premier sporting events, attracting huge television audiences and usually selling out the stadiums in which the games are played. Scrum (rugby)
A scrummage, commonly simply known as a scrum, is a method of restarting play in rugby football that involves players packing closely together with their heads down and attempting to gain possession of the ball. Depending on whether it is in rugby union or rugby league, the scrum is used either after an accidental infringement or when the ball has gone out of play. Scrums occur more often, and are now of greater importance, in union than in league. Starting play from the line of scrimmage in gridiron football is derived from the scrum. In both forms of rugby, a scrum is formed by the players who are designated forwards binding together in three rows. The scrum then 'engages' with the opposition team so that the players' heads are interlocked with those of the other side's front row.
