Tony Johnson (Australian Politician)
Anthony Valentine Patrick Johnson (31 August 1924 – 31 May 2001), was an Australian politician. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly between 1973 and 1983. Parliamentary career In 1973 Johnson was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for the seat of Mount Druitt Mount Druitt is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is located west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Blacktown, and is part of the Greater Western Sydney reg .... In 1981 he was elected to the seat of Riverstone, where he remained until leaving Parliamentary service in 1983. Johnson died in 2001 at the age of 76. He is buried beside his wife, Cecily 'Cec' Maria Johnson at Pine Grove Memorial Park. The New South Wales Legislative Assembly is the lower of the two houses of the Parliament of New South Wales, an Australian state. The upper house is the New South Wales Legislative Council. Both the Assembly and Council sit at Parliament House in the state capital, Sydney. The Assembly is presided over by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. The Assembly has 93 members, elected by single-member constituency, which are commonly known as seats. Voting is by the optional preferential system. Mount Druitt is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. It is represented by Edmond Atalla of the Labor Party. It is a 38.95 km² urban electorate in Sydney's outer west, taking in the suburbs of Mount Druitt, Bidwill, Blackett, Dean Park, Dharruk, Glendenning, Hassall Grove, Hebersham, Minchinbury, Oakhurst, Plumpton, Rooty Hill, Shalvey and parts of Colebee, Eastern Creek, Emerton and Lethbridge Park. Riverstone is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. It has been represented by Kevin Conolly of the Liberal Party since 2011. Riverstone is a 73 km² urban and semi-rural electorate in Sydney's north west, taking in the suburbs of Acacia Gardens, Angus, Grantham Farm, Kellyville Ridge, Nirimba Fields, Parklea, Richards, Riverstone, Schofields, Stanhope Gardens, Tallawong, The Ponds and parts of Glenwood, Marsden Park, Quakers Hill, Rouse Hill and Vineyard. Pine Grove Memorial Park
Pinegrove Memorial Park is a cemetery and crematorium in Minchinbury, located in the western suburbs of Sydney, Australia. First established in 1962, Pinegrove Memorial Park is set on 175 acres and is one of the largest, independently owned cemeteries in the Sydney region. On the grounds of Pinegrove Memorial Park are two chapels and a florist. The park is accessible to the public from sunrise to sunset. Within the park is the 'Chinese Memorial Garden – Lung Po Shan' for the interment of Chinese Australians. Terra Santa is a new crypt memorial development at Pinegrove Memorial Park located close to North and West Chapels. This crypt complex will be the largest in the southern hemisphere. Jim Southee
James Bernard Southee (6 June 1902 – 30 June 1979) was an Australian politician. He was a Labor member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, representing Blacktown from 1962 to 1971 and Mount Druitt from 1971 to 1973. Biography Southee was born in Mildura to farmer Laurence Southee and Annie Lockie. He was educated at public schools in Mildura and Leeton and assisted his father on their farm. He joined the Labor Party in 1929 and became active in the Australian Workers' Union. He married Muriel Crotty in 1944, with whom he had a daughter. In 1956 he became President of the New South Wales branch of the AWU, serving until 1961; he was also a member of the central executive (1957–1961). In 1962, Southee was the Labor candidate for Blacktown, which had been made notionally Labor by the redistribution (the sitting member, Alfred Dennis, contested The Hills as an independent), and was easily elected. Richard Amery
Richard Sanderson Amery (born 31 March 1951) is an Australian former politician. He was a Labor Party member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1983 to 2015, representing the electorates of Riverstone (1983-1991) and Mount Druitt (1991-2015). Early career Prior to entering politics, Amery spent several years in the retail industry before becoming a police officer with New South Wales Police, where he served for 13 years. At the time he resigned to take up his political work he was a senior constable. Parliamentary career Amery was the Minister for Agriculture from 1995 to 1997, when he was allocated additional responsibilities as Minister for Land and Water Conservation. He served as minister in both portfolios until 2001, when the Land and Water Conservation was allocated to another minister and Amery took on Corrective Services.
