Tony Ayala Jr.
Antonio Ayala Jr. (February 13, 1963 – May 12, 2015) was an American professional boxer who competed in the light middleweight division. He began his professional career in 1980, and by 1982 he had compiled a record of 22 wins and no losses, with 19 knockouts. Ayala was born to a boxing family, and had three brothers who were boxers, Mike Ayala, Paulie Ayala and Sammy Ayala. Tony Ayala is considered one of the most promising boxing wasted talents by boxing writers and historians, as his career cut short after he was imprisoned in 1983, at the age of 19. His first shot at the world title never happened due to his personal troubles and later conviction, while his second shot proved unsuccessful, as he was 40 years old and out-of-shape by that time. Michael Katz (born December 2, 1939) is an American sportswriter. History Katz was born in the Bronx in New York in 1939. After leaving high school he was accepted into City College of New York and while there wrote for the college newspaper, ''The Campus'', becoming sports editor. Katz later acted as a stringer for ''The New York Times'' covering City College sports. He became a copy boy for ''The New York Times'' and worked his way up to the sportsdesk. In 1966 he moved to Europe to work for ''The New York Times'' international edition and in 1968 he covered the Floyd Patterson vs Jimmy Ellis heavyweight title fight in Stockholm, Sweden. Danny Lopez (born July 6, 1952) is an American former professional boxer who was the WBC featherweight champion of the world from November 1976 to February 1980. His nickname was ''Little Red''. Dan Duva (7 November 1951 – 30 January 1996) was an American boxing promoter who promoted or co-promoted over 100 world championship fights through his family-run business, Main Events. Louis Duva (May 28, 1922 – March 8, 2017) was a boxing trainer, manager and boxing promoter who handled nineteen world champions. The Duva family promoted boxing events in over twenty countries on six continents. Lou Duva was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame, the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame, and The Meadowlands Sports Hall of Fame.
