Tommy Lyons (American Football)
Thomas Lewis Lyons (born August 7, 1948) is a former American football offensive lineman for the University of Georgia and the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). Football career He graduated Georgia Military Academy (now Woodward) and then from the University of Georgia in 1971. He earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in clinical bio-psychology from the University of Georgia. He was selected 14th round of the 1971 NFL Draft. Lyons played for the Broncos for six seasons, starting in 43 consecutive games at one point during his career. Guard (gridiron Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center (American football), center and the offensive tackle, tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for Blocking (American football), blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming defensive line, linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. Guards are automatically considered Eligible receiver, ineligible receivers, so they cannot intentionally touch a forward pass, unless it is to recover a fumble or is first touched by a defender or eligible receiver. Emory University School Of Medicine
The Emory University School of Medicine is the graduate medical school of Emory University and a component of Emory’s Robert W. Woodruff Health Sciences Center. Before it was established as the Emory School of Medicine in 1915, the school first began as the Atlanta Medical College. Founded in 1854 by a group of physicians led by Dr. John G. Westmoreland, the college began during unfavorable financial conditions along with competition of three other medical schools opening in the state, driving up competition for students. Despite these challenges, the Atlanta Medical College continued operation until August 1861 when classes were suspended due to the Civil War. Several years later, the College merged with the Southern Medical College, leading to the creation of the Atlanta College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1898. Bill Hartman
William Coleman Hartman, Jr. (March 17, 1915 – March 16, 2006) was an American football running back in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins before World War II. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1937 with a B.S., where he was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity. Hartman was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1984 and the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 1981. Football career Hartman was born in Thomaston, Georgia in 1915. He started playing football in Madison, Georgia, where his talents soon became evident. He played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs starting in 1935. Hartman distinguished himself at both fullback and linebacker for the Bulldogs. His best game is considered to be his performance in a 7-7 tie against Fordham University in 1936 which knocked Fordham out of contention for the Rose Bowl.
