Warmun Art Centre
Warmun Community (also known as Turkey Creek) and Warmun are a township and locality in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, located on the Great Northern Highway, northeast of Perth, Western Australia. The closest populated town is Halls Creek, about to the south. It is about south of Kununurra. Turkey Creek is a small creek that runs through the community. History The Gija people are the traditional owners of the area, having inhabited it for thousands of years. The area was settled by European pastoralists in the 19th century but the community was established in 1901 when the state government built a ration depot at Turkey Creek. Tommy Carroll (criminal)
Thomas Leonard Carroll (November 28, 1900 – June 7, 1934) was an American bank robber and Depression-era outlaw. A boxer-turned-criminal, he committed numerous robberies during the 1920s and 1930s as well as being a longtime member of the Dillinger gang.Newton, Michael. (pg. 50-51) Biography Early life and criminal career An ex-boxer, who once had his jaw broken in the ring, giving him a "lantern-jaw" appearance, Carroll served in World War I. He was first arrested on January 24, 1920, and served 60 days in the Douglas County, Nebraska jail "for investigation." On October 24, 1921, Carroll was arrested for larceny in Council Bluffs, Iowa and remained in jail for nearly four months before his conviction on February 7, 1922. Tommy Carroll (footballer)
Thomas Roger Carroll (18 August 1942 – 16 August 2020) was an Irish international footballer. Carroll was born in Dublin, and was 15 when he made his debut for Shelbourne, alongside his elder brother Eddie. During seven years at Tolka Park he won the League of Ireland Championship and the FAI Cup. He moved to Cambridge City in October 1963, making 170 first team appearances in all competitions during his spell at Milton Road. Played in the first ever Republic of Ireland U23 game in 1966. He then moved to Ipswich Town in July 1966 and played for the club at right full back for six seasons, including winning the 2nd Division title under the management of Bill McGarry before falling out with Bobby Robson. He was replaced by Geoff Hammond and soon after moved on to Birmingham City in November 1971. He represented his country 17 times scoring once. He also won three amateur caps. Tommy Carroll (hurler)
Thomas Carroll (12 January 1898 – 22 February 1979) was an Irish hurler. Usually lining out at left corner-back or right wing-back, he was a member of the Kilkenny team that won the 1922 All-Ireland Championship. Carroll began his club career playing with Clonmore in the junior championship. He later enjoyed a lengthy career at senior level with Mooncoin. Carroll won county senior championship medals in 1927, 1932 and in 1936 as captain of the team. After being selected for the Kilkenny senior team in 1922, he held his position as a back for much of the next decade. He won his first Leinster medal in 1922 before later winning his sole All-Ireland medal after Kilkenny's defeat of Tipperary in the final. Carroll won a further five Leinster medals in 1923, 1925, 1926, 1929 and 1931 and was an All-Ireland runner-up in 1926 and 1931. Carroll died after a short illness on 22 February 1979.
