Tomich (village)
Tomich ( gd, Tomaich) is a Victorian model conservation village situated in the Scottish Highlands at the western end of Strathglass, approximately 30 miles from Inverness. The Conservation Village of Tomich consists of privately owned properties that were originally created to serve Guisachan House, which is now derelict but under stabilization. Much of the history and rare flora and fauna of the area remains and is very much enjoyed still today. Because of its inspiring scenery and history, the area is used for worldwide recognised events. These include worldwide Retriever gatherings, World Orienteering Championships and others. USS Tomich (DE-242)
USS ''Tomich'' (DE-242) was an in service with the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. She was scrapped in 1974. History USS ''Tomich'' was named in honor of United States Navy Chief Watertender and Croatian Peter Tomich who received the Medal of Honor posthumously for his actions during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. She was laid down on 15 September 1942 at Houston, Texas, by the Brown Shipbuilding Co.; launched on 28 December 1942; sponsored by Mrs. O. L. Hammonds; and commissioned on 27 July 1943. Battle of the Atlantic Following commissioning, ''Tomich'' got underway from Galveston, Texas, on 12 August and reached New Orleans, Louisiana, on the following day. The destroyer escort departed Louisiana waters on the 19th, bound for Bermuda and four weeks of shakedown training. Jared Tomich
Jared James Tomich (born April 24, 1974 in St. John, Indiana) is a former American football defensive end in the National Football League. Tomich went to high school at Lake Central High School. Lake Central recently retired his number. Tomich played college football for the University of Nebraska. Jared came to Nebraska as a Proposition 48 (NCAA) partial qualifier, but ended up becoming an All-American in both 1995 and 1996. Pere Tomich
Pere (or Père) Tomich or Tomic (Bagà, Barcelona, fl. 1431–1438) was a Catalan knight and historian. He was son of the mayor of Bagà and attorney for the baronies of Pinós and Mataplana. He was Castilian of the castle of Aristot ( Alt Urgell) in the years 1446-47. He wrote a monumental general history of Catalonia from Creation, through the "primers pobladors d'Espanya" (first populators of Spain), to the reign of Ferdinand I of Aragon. His ''Histories e Conquestes del reyalme Darago e principat de Cathalunya'' he finished at Bagà in 1438. One of its distinguishing marks is Pere's uncritical acceptance of legend and incorporation of folklore into his otherwise accurate account. Petar Herceg-Tonić (later anglicized as Peter Tomich; June 3, 1893 – December 7, 1941) was a United States Navy sailor of Herzegovinian Croat descent who received the United States military's highest award, the Medal of Honor, for his actions in World War II.Hagan (2004), pp. 435–36. Biography Tomich was an ethnic Croat from Herzegovina born as Petar Herceg (family nickname 'Tomić') in Prolog near Ljubuški, Austro-Hungarian rule in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Tomislav "Tommi" Tomich (born 14 February 1980) is an Australian goalkeeper who plays for Sydenham Park. Biography Tomich has previously played with Bassendean Caledonians, Cockburn City, Melbourne Knights FC, Western Knights and a stint with Perth Glory in the 2000. In November 2006 Tomich joined Perth Glory as a replacement for injured keeper Jason Petkovic. His consistent performances had earned him a one-year deal until the end of the 2007–08 season as first-choice goalkeeper until Jason Petkovic recovered.
