Tomas Uresti
Tomas Uresti is a Democratic former member of the Texas House of Representatives who represented District 118. He won the November 2016 general election and was sworn into office on January 10, 2017. Uresti was defeated in the Democratic primary on March 6, 2018. Biography Uresti served 13 years on the Harlandale ISD Board of Trustees and four years on the board of directors for the Bexar County Appraisal District before winning election as a state Representative in 2016. He lost his bid for re-election in the March 6, 2018 Democratic primary to Leo Pacheco, an adjunct professor at San Antonio College and former chair of the Bexar County Democratic Party. Uresti's loss was attributed in part to blowback from the conviction of his younger brother, former State Senator Carlos Uresti, on multiple counts of fraud and money laundering shortly before the primary. Carlos Uresti
Carlos "Charlie" Uresti (born September 18, 1963) is an American attorney and Democratic politician from San Antonio, Texas. From November 2006 until his resignation in June 2018, he served as a member of the Texas State Senate representing Senate District 19, one of the largest geographical senatorial districts in the Texas Senate, covering a third of the Texas-Mexico border. Prior to his election to the Texas State Senate, he represented the 118th district in the Texas House of Representatives from January 1997 until November 2006. In February 2018, Uresti was found guilty of 11 federal felony charges relating to his alleged involvement in a Ponzi scheme that defrauded investors out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. On June 18, 2018, he announced his resignation from the Texas State Senate, effective June 21, 2018. On June 26, 2018, Uresti was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison. John Lujan
John Lujan III (born June 7, 1962) is a firefighter and former Bexar County sheriff’s deputy, who serves as a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives for District 118 in San Antonio. 2016 special election for District 118 He won a special election held on January 26, 2016, to represent District 118, which encompasses part of Bexar County. The position opened with the resignation of Democrat Joe Farias. In the November 2016 general election, he ran for election to a full term but was defeated by the Democrat Tomas Uresti. Leo Pacheco
Leo Pacheco is an American educator and politician who served in the Texas House of Representatives from January 8, 2019, to August 19, 2021, representing the 118th district. Early life and education Pacheco's family is descended from the settlers who founded the original San Antonio mission from the Canary Islands. He was raised on San Antonio's South Side. Pacheco graduated from Harlandale High School in 1976. Pacheco became the first member of his family to graduate from college; he earned an associate's degree at San Antonio College, a Bachelor of Business Management at Texas A&M University–San Antonio, and a Master of Public Administration at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).
