Thomas McNamara (1872 – 5 October 1944) was an Irish Gaelic footballer. His championship career with the Limerick senior team lasted three seasons from 1887 until 1889. McNamara made his inter-county debut during the 1887 championship when the Commercials club represented Limerick in the inaugural championship. He won his sole All-Ireland medal that year as Limerick defeated Louth in the final. Thomas Lawrence McNamara, Sr. (November 18, 1882 – July 21, 1939) was an American professional golfer. Biography McNamara was born in Brookline, Massachusetts to an immigrant Irish family. His parents were Thomas McNamara (1841–1909) and Mariah McNamara ''née'' Curry (1851–1940). McNamara was the head professional at Wollaston Golf Club. During the 1909 U.S. Open, McNamara became the first man ever to break 70 in a competitive American tournament. McNamara held a three-stroke lead in the 1909 U.S. Open heading to the back nine. Due to the extremely hot temperatures, McNamara suffered a heatstroke on the 14th hole. After doctors treated him, he insisted on finishing the tournament. He succeeded in finishing, but his game collapsed down the stretch and finished second. The following year, 1910, he served as the head golf professional at the Fall River Country Club in Fall River, Massachusetts. Thomas Henry McNamara (November 5, 1895 – May 5, 1974) was a professional baseball player. He appeared in one game in Major League Baseball during the 1922 season for the Pittsburgh Pirates as a pinch hitter. Listed at , 200 lb, he batted and threw right-handed. Born in Roxbury, Massachusetts, McNamara attended Princeton University from 1919 to 1922 and came to the majors for one game on June 25, 1922. Primarily an outfielder, he was used as a pinch hitter by Pirates manager George Gibson in the fifth inning of game against the Cincinnati Reds, replacing pitcher Hal Carlson. McNamara grounded out, then was replaced in the field by Earl Hamilton. He never appeared in a major league game again. The same year McNamara played in the Michigan–Ontario League with the Flint Vehicles, hitting for them a .313 average and three home runs in 13 games. Edmund Reginald "Tom" McNamara (December 15, 1896 – November 7, 1943) was an American football player. McNamara was born in 1896 in Clinton, Massachusetts, and attended Clinton High School. He played college football for Tufts in 1917 and 1919. In 1918, he played at the fullback position for the Wentworth Naval Station football team. He later played for the University of Detroit Titans from 1920 to 1922. He then played three seasons in the National Football League with the Toledo Maroons in 1923 and with the Detroit Panthers in 1925 and 1926. He appeared in 31 NFL games, 30 of them as a starter.
