Tom Lloyd (1929–1996) was an American sculptor, activist and community organizer. Early life and education Tom Lloyd was born in 1929 in Jamaica, Queens, where he spent majority of his childhood and started gained his love for art. He studied art at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and the Brooklyn Museum. Artistic career In 1968, Tom Lloyd’s work was chosen as the subject for the inaugural exhibition of the Studio Museum in Harlem. The exhibition, ''Electronic Refractions II'', opened on September 24, 1968, and featured his electronically programmed light sculptures. The exhibition of electronically-programmed light works by artist Tom Lloyd (1929–1996) opened The Studio Museum in Harlem. The Del Fuegos were an American 1980s garage-style rock band. Formed in 1980, the Boston, Massachusetts, United States-based band gained success in 1986 with their songs "Don't Run Wild" and "I Still Want You" and appearing in a widely seen television commercial for Miller Beer. The band's fans included Tom Petty, who appeared on one of the band's songs and featured them as an opening act on one of his tours. History The relationship between brothers Warren Zanes and Dan Zanes, then and now, has been described as "fractious". Shortly after the band was dropped by Slash Records due to the commercial disappointment of their third album for the label, Warren left the band, as did Woody. Tommy Lloyd (born December 21, 1974) is an American college basketball coach who is the head coach at the Arizona Wildcats men's team of the Pac-12 Conference. Playing career Lloyd was born in Kelso, Washington and attended Kelso High School, graduating in 1993. His senior year he led the Hilanders to a 21-4 record and to the WIAA state 4A tournament for the first time in 15 years. He began his collegiate career at Walla Walla Community College in Walla Walla, Washington where he played two years. His 52 points against Treasure Valley Community College still stands as the school's single-game record. During his sophomore season, he averaged over 20 points per game and was selected to the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (now the Northwest Athletic Conference) Eastern All-Star team.
