Tom Lees (boxer)
Thomas James Lees (16 June 1858 – 11 July 1947) was an Australian boxer and the second reported person to hold the title Heavyweight Champion of Australia, from May 1885 to September 1886. During a long career in boxing he fought bouts in South Africa, USA, Canada and the UK as well as in Australasia. Peter Jackson (3 July 1861 – 13 July 1901) was an Australian heavyweight boxer who had a significant international career. Jackson was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in the inaugural 1990 class, as well as being the 2004 inductee for the Australian National Boxing Hall of Fame in the Pioneers category. Early life Jackson was born in Christiansted on the island Saint Croix, which was then the capital of the Danish West Indies (subsequently, part of the U.S. Virgin Islands). His family originally came from Montego Bay, Jamaica. His father, also called Peter Jackson, was a warehouseman and the grandson of a freed slave who had been owned by a planter with the surname of Jackson. Joe Goddard (boxer)
Joe Goddard (25 November 1857 – 21 January 1903) was an Australian boxer known for his great strength, durability, and punching power. He stood 6' 0" (185 cm) and weighed 12 stone 12 lbs to 14 stone 4 lbs (180-200 pounds, 82–91 kg). He was one of the first reported Heavyweight Champions of Australia. Among the men he defeated were Joe Choynski, Peter Maher, and "Denver" Ed Smith. His (incomplete) record comes out to: 28 wins (22 by knockout), 12 losses, 8 draws, and 6 no decisions. Goddard was shot in the head by a police constable whom he had attacked with a baseball bat during a fight at the Republican primaries in Pennsauken Township, Philadelphia, New Jersey in July 1902. Bill Farnan (23 September 1851 – 15 March 1891) was Australia's first List of Australian heavyweight boxing champions, heavyweight boxing champion. Tommy Burns (born Noah Brusso; June 17, 1881May 10, 1955) was a Canadian professional boxer. He is the only Canadian-born World Heavyweight Boxing Champion. The first to travel the globe in defending his title, Burns made 13 title defences against 11 different boxers, despite often being the underdog due to his size.
