Tom Huff (American Politician)
Thomas Gregory Huff (September 27, 1932 – April 14, 2013) was an American businessman and politician who served as a member of the Washington House of Representatives, representing the Washington's 26th legislative district, 26th district from 1995 to 2001. Biography Born and raised in Mandan, North Dakota, Huff attended local public schools and graduated from Sumner High School. He attended college at the University of Puget Sound and Knapp College. Huff made a business career in Washington State, where he became an executive for Sears, a major retailer and catalog company. He became interested in politics, joining the Republican Party (United States), Republican Party. Washington's 26th legislative district is one of forty-nine districts in Washington state for representation in the state legislature. The district includes southeastern Kitsap Peninsula from Bremerton and Port Orchard in the north to Gig Harbor in the south. Sears, Roebuck and Co. The University of Puget Sound (UPS or Puget Sound) is a private university in Tacoma, Washington. The university draws approximately 2,600 students from 44 states and 16 countries. It offers 1,200 courses each year in more than 50 traditional and interdisciplinary areas of study. The university is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. History The University of Puget Sound was founded by the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1888 in downtown Tacoma. The idea for a college in Tacoma originated with Charles Henry Fowler, who had previously been the president of Northwestern University. Fowler was in Tacoma for a Methodist conference when he spoke of his vision of a Christian institution of learning in the area. The Washington House of Representatives is the lower house of the Washington State Legislature, and along with the Washington State Senate makes up the legislature of the U.S. state of Washington.
