Tom Gilligan (footballer, Born 1978)
Thomas Gilligan (born 3 November 1978) is an Australian rules footballer who played for Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League. Gilligan played as a young ruckman in 1997 for the Crows, being treated to a baptism of fire in his three games. He would remain a backup to lead ruckman Shaun Rehn. Gilligan did not play any AFL games in 1998 for the Crows and was delisted. Gilligan played for St Mary's Sporting Club, St Mary's Football Club in the Geelong Football League, winning premierships in 2004 and 2008. He was named at 33 in the top 50 Geelong Football League players of all time. Dandenong Stingrays
The Dandenong Southern Stingrays are an Australian rules football team in the NAB League, the Victorian statewide under-18s competition. 1992 saw the birth of the Southern Stingrays, developed under the leadership of Steve Kennedy (Regional Manager) and Ron Roach (Promotions Manager) with its home base located at Ben Kavanagh Reserve, Mordialloc, Victoria, Mordialloc. The side is coached in the inaugural year by Peter Russo. In 1995 the club moved from Mordialloc to Dandenong, Victoria, Dandenong and it also changed its name to the Dandenong Southern Stingrays. The club is currently under the leadership of Darren Flanigan (Region Talent Manager) and Matthew Crozier (Female Talent Coordinator) with the home base located at Shepley Oval, Dandenong. The Adelaide Crows (officially the Adelaide Football Club) are a professional Australian rules football team based in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1990. The Crows has fielded a men's team in the Australian Football League (AFL) since 1991, and a women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW) competition since 2017. The club's offices and training facilities are located in the western Adelaide suburb of West Lakes, at the site of the club's former home ground Football Park. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. Originally known as the Victorian Football League (VFL), it was founded in 1896 as a breakaway competition from the Victorian Football Association (VFA), with its inaugural season commencing the following year. Shaun Rehn
Shaun Jason Rehn (born 17 August 1971) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Adelaide Football Club and the Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early career Rehn grew up on a farm near Arno Bay, South Australia, playing junior football for Arno Bay in the Eastern Eyre Football League. It wasn't until Rehn attended Immanuel College (Australia) that he believed he could play league football. Rehn was invited to try out for the West Adelaide Under 19s despite being from the Port Adelaide zone. He made his senior debut for West Adelaide in 1990, playing two games for the season; Rehn was then selected in the Adelaide Crows inaugural 52-man squad wearing number 52. St Mary's Sporting Club Inc., nicknamed the ''Saints'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the port city of Geelong, Victoria. The club teams currently compete in the Geelong Football Netball League, the premier league in the region. History Earlier club A version of this club existed from 1904 to 1906. They competed in the Church Union Association and won the 1905 Church Union Association premiership. The Geelong Football Netball League is an Australian rules football and netball league in Victoria, Australia. It is widely regarded as the highest standard Australian rules football league in regional Victoria, with several former AFL players now playing for a variety of clubs. History The league was formed in 1979 when twelve clubs broke away from the Geelong & District Football League. The city and country clubs of the old GDFL were divided into the major league competition of the GFL and the minor league of the GDFL.
