Tom Dixon was an all-star and award winning kicker in the Canadian Football League. A graduate of UBC, Dixon played 4 seasons in the CFL. During his first two, with the Edmonton Eskimos, he was named an all-star and won the Dave Dryburgh Memorial Trophy in 1986 for points scored. The Edmonton Elks are a professional Canadian football team based in Edmonton, Alberta. The club competes in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a member of the league's West Division and plays their home games at the Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium. The Ottawa Rough Riders were a Canadian Football League team based in Ottawa, Ontario, founded in 1876. Formerly one of the oldest and longest-lived professional sports teams in North America, the Rough Riders won the Grey Cup championship nine times. Their most dominant era was the 1960s and 1970s, in which they won five Grey Cups. Dave Dryburgh Memorial Trophy
The Dave Dryburgh Memorial Trophy is a Canadian Football League trophy, given to the top scorer in the West Division. Unlike other CFL trophies, there is no East Division counterpart, though the East Division teams were eligible in the 1995 CFL season, when the final year of the three year expansion to the United States resulted in the West / East divisions being replaced by an all-Canadian (Dryburgh Trophy eligible) North Division and an all-American South Division. Placekicker
Placekicker, or simply kicker (PK or K), is the player in gridiron football who is responsible for the kicking duties of field goals and extra points. In many cases, the placekicker also serves as the team's kickoff specialist or punter. Specialized role The kicker initially was not a specialized role. Prior to the 1934 standardization of the prolate spheroid shape of the ball, drop kicking was the prevalent method of kicking field goals and conversions, but even after its replacement by place kicking, until the 1960s the kicker almost always doubled at another position on the roster.
