Thomas Deacon
Thomas Deacon (2 September 1697 – 16 February 1753) was an English non-juror bishop, liturgical scholar and physician. He was born to William and Cecelia Deacon. After his mother married the nonjuror bishop Jeremy Collier, the young Deacon was introduced to many of the leading Jacobite and nonjuring figures including George Hickes. Deacon became an accomplished scholar and was ordained by Jeremy Collier to the nonjuring priesthood in 1716. In addition to his theological studies, Deacon studied medicine with Richard Mead (1673–1754). He served several nonjuring congregations in London before moving to Manchester around 1722, where he became a leading physician. Around 1720 he married Sarah Gamon (1700-1745). Three of his twelve children, and several members of his congregation, served in the Jacobite Manchester Regiment in the Jacobite rising of 1745. Thomas Deacon (politician)
Thomas Deacon, (November 7, 1832 – March 18, 1911) was an Ontario lawyer, judge, businessman and political figure. He represented Renfrew North in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1871 to 1879. He was born in Perth in Upper Canada in 1832, the son of John Deacon, an Irish immigrant. He studied law with his brother John, was called to the bar in 1862 and went on to practise in Pembroke. Deacon married Caroline Rebecca Dunlop in 1864. He was named Queen's Counsel in 1876. He served as a member of the town council. Deacon was a director of the Kingston and Pembroke Railway and president of a lumber company. He was named judge in Renfrew County in 1895. Thomas Russ Deacon (3 January 1865 – 30 May 1955) was a Canadian politician, the 24th Mayor of Winnipeg in 1913 and 1914. Deacon was born in Perth, Canada West. After working in Northern Ontario lumber camps, he returned to school, eventually graduating in 1891 with a civil engineering degree at the University of Toronto. After working on the water systems in North Bay, Ontario and on gold mining in Rat Portage, Deacon moved to Winnipeg in 1902 and by 1906 joined the city's council. He campaigned for mayor on the basis of developing a new source of city water from Shoal Lake in northwestern Ontario.
