Tom Clancy (Canadian Football)
Thomas Francis "King" Clancy (December 2, 1872 – September 28, 1938) was a Canadian football player and coach. He was originally a baseball player before becoming a football player in 1894. He was the coach of the Ottawa Rough Riders from 1904 to 1911, 1913, and 1921 to 1922 (and an assistant in 1919). Clancy was known as "The original King", since his son, Frank Clancy was known as King Clancy. Early life Tom Clancy was born on December 2, 1872 in Ireland. He was raised in Naugatuck, Connecticut. Baseball career Clancy was a noted baseball player in the late 1800s along with his two brothers, Michael and William. King Clancy
Francis Michael "King" Clancy (February 25, 1902 – November 8, 1986) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player, referee, coach and executive. Clancy played 16 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs. He was a member of three Stanley Cup championship teams and won All-Star honours. After he retired in 1937, he remained in hockey, becoming a coach for the Montreal Maroons. Clancy next worked as a referee for the NHL. He joined the Maple Leafs organization and worked in the organization as a coach and team executive until his death in 1986. In 2017 Clancy was named one of the '100 Greatest NHL Players' in history. Clancy's nickname "King" originates from his father Tom, who was the first 'King Clancy' and played football with the Ottawa Rough Riders. Ottawa Gee-Gees
The Ottawa Gee-Gees are the athletic teams that represent the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Ontario. The Gee-Gees won the national football championship, the Vanier Cup, in 1975 and 2000, while also appearing in the game in the 1970, 1980, and 1997 seasons. The Gee-Gees women's rugby team won the national championship in 2017, and the women's soccer team were national champions in 1996 and 2018. The men's cross country team won three national titles, in 1986, 1987, and 1990. Name The name is a result of a progressive evolution. Father Michael Fallon
Michael Francis Fallon (May 17, 1867 – February 22, 1931) was an Irish-Canadian Catholic priest and a Canadian football coach. He was the head coach of the Ottawa Gee-Gees teams in the 1890s. Fallon was born to Irish immigrants to Canada. From April 25, 1910 until his death on February 22, 1931, he was Bishop of Roman Catholic Diocese of London, Ontario. ''Ottawa Journal''. Naugatuck is a consolidated borough and town in New Haven County, Connecticut, United States.
