Toivo Jaatinen
Toivo Jaatinen (August 1, 1926 in Sortavala – November 14, 2017 in Nurmijärvi) was a Finnish sculptor, recipient of the prestigious Saltus Award in 2002. Jaatinen studied visual arts at Helsinki Central School of Art and Design and the Academy of Fine Arts school. Jaatinen first medal created in 1962 for the Railway Board. Since then he designed several medals and won four times in Finnish Medal Art Guild's annual medal competition (1965, 1967, 1973 and 1994). The Guild also chose a medal made by Jaatinen as the best all-time Finnish medal. Saltus Award
The J. Sanford Saltus Medal Award is an annual award made to artists "for lifetime achievement in medallic art". It is administered by the American Numismatic Society. The award was first awarded in 1913 on the initiative of J. Sanford Saltus to reward sculptors "for distinguished achievement in the field of the art of the medal". The medal was designed in silver by Adolph A. Weinman, himself the second winner of the award. Nurmijärvi () is the most populated rural municipality of Finland, located north of the capital Helsinki. The neighboring municipalities of Nurmijärvi are Espoo, Vantaa, Tuusula, Hyvinkää and Vihti, and it is part of the Greater Helsinki. The population of the municipality is inhabitants. Helsinki University of Technology (TKK; fi, Teknillinen korkeakoulu; sv, Tekniska högskolan) was a technical university in Finland. It was located in Otaniemi, Espoo in the metropolitan area of Greater Helsinki. The university was founded in 1849 by Grand Duke of Finland, Emperor Nicholas I and received university status in 1908.
