Together For Šumadija
Together for Šumadija ( sr, Заједно за Шумадијy / Zajedno za Šumadiju) is a minor liberal-conservative political party in Serbia. Founded on May 2, 2009 by the ''Together for Kragujevac'' movement and by a series of citizen advocacy groups and political parties in Šumadija (Central Serbia). The party's primary goals are decentralization, equal regional development and Euro-Atlantic integration of Serbia. The party leader Veroljub Stevanović was former mayor of Kragujevac. The party merged into the United Regions of Serbia on 10 June 2013. However, Veroljub Stevanović announced his plan to revive the party in late 2014, and the necessary signatures were collected by 20 February 2015. Veroljub Stevanović
Veroljub "Verko" Stevanović ( sr, Верољуб Верко Стевановић, born 17 September 1946, Kragujevac, FPR Yugoslavia) is a Serbian politician who served as the mayor of Kragujevac from 1996 to 2000 and again from 2004 to 2014. Biography Stevanović graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Kragujevac in City of Kragujevac. His political career began in 1993, when he won his first seat in the Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, as a Member of the Serbian Renewal Movement. In 2006, he was Vice President of the Serbian Renewal Movement. In the interim Government of the Republic of Serbia 2000 he was co- minister of industry. In 1996, he became the first democratic Mayor of the City of Kragujevac. In the first direct elections for mayor, held in 2004, he was re-elected Mayor for the City of Kragujevac. Sokobanja
Sokobanja ( sr-cyr, Сокобања, ) is a spa town and municipality located in the Zaječar District of the eastern Serbia. As of 2011, the population of the town is 7,982, while population of the municipality is 16,021. Geography Sokobanja is one of the most popular tourist resorts in Serbia. It is situated in the southern part of Sokobanja valley, surrounded by mountains Ozren, Devica, Janior, Rtanj, and Bukovik. The Moravica River runs through Sokobanja. Smederevska Palanka
Smederevska Palanka ( sr-cyr, Смедеревска Паланка, ) is a town and municipality located in the Podunavlje District and the geographical region of Šumadija. According to the 2011 census, the town has 23,601, while the municipality has 50,284 inhabitants. History In the vicinity of the town there are two archaeological sites: Medvednjak, near Grčac, and Staro Selo, near Selevac. They belong to the end of Neolithic and early Eneolithic, or the period 4500-3500 BC, during the developed and ending phase of the Vinča culture when the first evidence of metallurgy appeared. The culture then disappears as the population presumably migrated. Both settlements were large, spreading on . Findings from the later Hallstatt culture were also discovered. Rekovac () is a small town and municipality located in the Pomoravlje District of central Serbia. Aranđelovac
Aranđelovac ( sr-cyr, Аранђеловац, ) is a town and a municipality located in the Šumadija District of central Serbia. , the municipality has a population of 46,225 inhabitants, while the town has 24,797 inhabitants. Topola
Topola ( sr-cyrl, Топола, ) is a town and municipality located in the Šumadija District of central Serbia. It was the place where Karađorđe, a Serbian revolutionary, was chosen as the leader of the First Serbian Uprising against the Ottoman Empire in 1804. The local St. George Church is the burial place of the Ducal and Royal Family of Serbia and Yugoslavia (the Karađorđevićes). The name ''Topola'' means poplar. Gornji Milanovac
Gornji Milanovac ( sr-Cyrl, Гoрњи Милановац, ) is a town and municipality located in the Moravica District of central Serbia. The population of the town is 24,216, while the population of the municipality is 44,406. The town was founded in 1853. Before 1859 the original name of the town was Despotovica ( sr-Cyrl, Деспотовица), after the Despotovica river passing by the town.
