Todd Nolan
Todd Nolan was a hurler from County Kerry. He played with the Kerry intercounty team from 1966 to 1986, and with his local Crotta O'Neill's club. He also played football with Fingue. While playing for Kerry, he won three All-Ireland Senior B Hurling Championship titles in 1976, 1983 and 1986. He won a Railway Cup medal with Munster in 1969 alongside the great names of hurling like Len Gaynor, Eamonn Cregan and Jimmy Doyle to name a few. At club level with Crotta O'Neill's he won a Kerry Senior Hurling Championship medal in 1968 to date the last title Crotta have won. He also played in 5 other finals. His father Tom Nolan was also a great hurling during the 1940s till the 1960s. He had 4 other brothers who also played with Kerry. Crotta O'Neill's
Crotta O'Neill's are a hurling club in the Kilflynn area of County Kerry, Ireland. The club is named after Maurice O'Neill, an Irish Republican. They play in the Kerry Senior Hurling Championship. The club is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. Their pitch is located in Dromakee. History The Club have played in 19 Kerry Senior Hurling Championship finals winning 10, including a three in a row from 1943 to 1945 and a two in a row in 1950 and 1951. The most successful time for the club came between 1939 and 1951 when the club won 8 of their 10 County Championships. Jimmy Flaherty was captain for 5 for the wins in 1939, 1944, 1945, 1947 and 1950. Tom Nolan (GAA)
Tom (Tomásin) Nolan (born Clandouglas, Lixnaw, County Kerry) was a hurler from County Kerry. He played with the Kerry and the Crotta O'Neill's club. Nolan was at his best at midfield during Crotta's glorious period in the 1940s and early 1950s. During that time Crotta O'Neill's were one of the strongest sides in Kerry hurling. He won six Kerry Senior Hurling Championships. Nolan won the first of his County Championship medals in 1943, when Crotta, defeated Kenmare in the final. The Crotta team went on to complete three-in-a-row in 1944 and 1945 and took further titles in 1947, 1950 and 1951, with Nolan at mid-field in five of the victories. He was captain in 1950 and '51 teams. Nolan went on to play in further county finals in 1952 and 1957 but Crotta were defeated in both. Kerry Senior Hurling Championship
The Kerry Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as Garvey's SuperValu Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Kerry County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1889 for the top hurling teams in the county of Kerry in Ireland. The series of games are played during the summer months, with the county final currently being played in Austin Stack Park in August. Initially played a knock-out competition, the championship currently uses a double elimination format whereby each team is guaranteed at least two games. The 2020 championship reverted to a straight knock-out format due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Kerry County Championship is an integral part of the wider Munster Intermediate Club Hurling Championship. Jimmy Doyle
James Doyle (20 March 1939 – 22 June 2015) was an Irish hurler who played as a right wing-forward for the Tipperary senior team. Born in Thurles, County Tipperary, Doyle first played competitive hurling whilst at school in Thurles CBS. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of fourteen when he first linked up with the Tipperary minor team. He made his senior debut in the 1957–58 National League. Doyle went on to play a key part for Tipperary during a hugely successful era for the team, and won six All-Ireland medals, nine Munster medals and seven National Hurling League medals. An All-Ireland runner-up on three occasions, Doyle also captained the team to All-Ireland victory in 1962 and 1965. Len Gaynor
James Leonard Gaynor (born 1944) is an Irish former hurler who played as a left wing-back at senior level for the Tipperary county team. Early life Born and raised in Kilruane, County Tipperary, Barry first played as a schoolboy in various juvenile competitions at Kilruane National School before later lining out as a student at St Flannan's College in Ennis. He lined out in the Harty Cup but success eluded him in that competition. Gaynor captained St Flannan's to the Dean Ryan Cup title in 1961 after a 6-07 to 1-03 defeat of De La Salle College Waterford in the final. Club career Gaynor played his first juvenile game for the Kilruane MacDonaghs club as an 11-year-old in 1955. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. Railway Cup
The GAA Interprovincial Championship ( ga, An Corn Idir-Chúigeach) or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. The Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster GAA teams are composed of the best players from the counties in each province. The games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The Railway Cup was a revival of the Railway Shield which ran from 1905 to 1907 (football) and from 1905 to 1908 (hurling).
