Toby Lightman is an American singer-songwriter. Her first album, '' Little Things'', was released in 2004 on Lava/Atlantic. Her second album, '' Bird on a Wire'' was released in 2006. During her career, she has toured and performed with bands such as OAR, Rob Thomas, Jewel, Gavin DeGraw, Train, Prince, Marc Broussard, and Carbon Leaf. Funk is a music genre that originated in African American communities in the mid-1960s when musicians created a rhythmic, danceable new form of music through a mixture of various music genres that were popular among African Americans in the mid-20th century.
