The Beast (Revelation)
The Beast ( grc-x-koine, Θηρίον, ) may refer to one of two beasts described in the Book of Revelation. In Revelation 13:1-10, the first beast (interpreted as the Antichrist) rises "out of the sea" and is given authority and power by the dragon. This first beast is initially mentioned in Revelation 11:7 as emerging from the abyss. His appearance is described in detail in Revelation 13:1–10, and some of the mystery surrounding it is revealed in Revelation 17:7–18. In Revelation 13:11–18, the second beast (the false prophet) comes "out of the earth" and forces everyone on earth to worship the first beast. Aleister Crowley
Aleister Crowley (; born Edward Alexander Crowley; 12 October 1875 – 1 December 1947) was an English occultist, ceremonial magician, poet, painter, novelist, and mountaineer. He founded the religion of Thelema, identifying himself as the prophet entrusted with guiding humanity into the Æon of Horus in the early 20th century. A prolific writer, he published widely over the course of his life. Therion (formerly Blitzkrieg and Megatherion) is a Swedish symphonic metal band founded by Christofer Johnsson in 1987. Its name was inspired by the Celtic Frost album '' To Mega Therion''. "To Mega Therion" is Greek for "The Great Beast" and was a title used by occultist Aleister Crowley. Originally a death metal band, Therion adjusted its musical style by adding orchestral elements, including choirs, classical musicians, and even a full orchestra at their concert performances. ''To Mega Therion'' (meaning ''the great beast'' in Greek) is the debut album by Swiss extreme metal band Celtic Frost, released on 27 October 1985 by Noise Records. The cover artwork is a painting by H. R. Giger entitled ''Satan I''. The album was a major influence on the then-developing death metal and black metal genres. ''Megatherium'' ( ; from Greek () 'great' + () 'beast') is an extinct genus of ground sloths endemic to South America that lived from the Early Pliocene through the end of the Pleistocene. It is best known for the elephant-sized type species ''M. americanum'', sometimes called the giant ground sloth, or the megathere, native to the Pampas through southern Bolivia during the Pleistocene.
