Suum Cuique
"" (), or "''Unicuique suum''", is a Latin phrase often translated as "to each his own" or "may all get their due". It has been significant in the history of philosophy and as a motto. History Antiquity The Latin phrase relates to an old Greek principle of justice which translates literally into English as "to each his own". Plato, in ''Republic'', offers the provisional definition that "justice is when everyone minds his own business, and refrains from meddling in others' affairs" (Greek: "...τὸ τὰ αὑτοῦ πράττειν καὶ μὴ πολυπραγμονεῖν δικαιοσύνη ἐστί...", 4.433a). Everyone should do according to his abilities and capabilities, to serve the country and the society as a whole. Also, everyone should receive "his own" (e.g., rights) and not be deprived of "his own" (e.g., property) (433e). The Roman author, orator and politician Marcus Tullius Cicero (106 BC – 43 BC) popularised the Latin phrase: * "''Iustitia suum ...

However, when Dr. Manno and his hunting companion, Dr. Roscio, are found murdered the next day, it becomes quite apparent that the letter was intended to do more than simply frighten the pharmacist from engaging in his favourite pastime. Although the double-homicide is interesting gossip for the townspeople, nobody gives the motives for the murders a second thought, and it is assumed that the ph ...

Stanley Robert "Bobby" Vinton (born April 16, 1935) is a American former singer and occasional actor, who also hosted his own self-titled TV show in the late 1970s. As a teen idol, he became known as "The Polish Prince", as his music paid tribute to his Polish heritage. Original 1946 recordings In 1946, three different versions hit number one on the ''Billboard'' charts in the United States. Jedem Das Seine
"'" () is the literal German translation of the Latin phrase ''suum cuique'', meaning "to each his own" or "to each what he deserves". During World War II the phrase was cynically used by the Nazis as a motto displayed over the entrance of Buchenwald concentration camp. This has resulted in use of the phrase being considered controversial in modern Germany. History ''Jedem das Seine'' has been an idiomatic German expression for several centuries. For example, it is found in the works of Martin Luther and contemporaries. It appears in the title of a cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach, '' Nur jedem das Seine'' (BWV 163), first performed at Weimar in 1715. Some nineteenth-century comedies bear the title ''Jedem das Seine'', including works by Johann Friedrich Rochlitz and Caroline Bernstein. An ironic twist on the proverb, ''"jedem das Seine, mir das Meiste"'' ("to each his own, to me the most"), has been known in the reservoir of German idioms for a long time, including its incl ...
