Tiruchuli is a state assembly constituency in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu. It comes under Ramanathapuram Lok Sabha constituency for parliament elections. It was created after the delimitation of constituencies. It is one of the 234 State Legislative Assembly Constituencies in Tamil Nadu in India. Thangam Thennarasu
Thangam Thennarasu (born 3 June 1966) is an Indian politician and the Minister for Department of Industries, Tamil Official Language, Tamil Culture and Archeology Minister of Tamil nadu. He served as Minister for School Education in Tamil Nadu during 2006-2011. He was born in Mallankinaru, Tamil Nadu. He has a bachelor's degree in Engineering. He has been elected to the Tamil Nadu assembly five times. He is the son of the former Member of Legislative Assembly from Aruppukottai, V. Thangapandian He was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly as a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate from Aruppukottai constituency in 1997/98 by-election, and 2006 election. 2011 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election
The Fourteenth Legislative Assembly Election was held on 13 April 2011 to elect members from 234 constituencies in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Results were released on 13 May 2011. Two major parties Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) faced the election as coalitions of multiple political parties: DMK front consisted of 8 parties and the AIADMK of 11 parties. Vijayakanth's Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), which had contested the previous elections independently, allied with the AIADMK coalition. 2021 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election
The Sixteenth Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election was held on 6 April 2021, to elect representatives from the 234 constituencies in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won the election, ending the decade-long reign of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). The DMK's leader M. K. Stalin became the eighth Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and the 12th Chief Minister since the 1956 reorganization. He replaced Edappadi K. Palaniswami of the AIADMK. The poll was Tamil Nadu's first assembly election after the demises of the two most prominent Chief Ministers in the state's modern history, J. Jayalalithaa—general secretary of the AIADMK, and M. 2016 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election
The Fifteenth Legislative Assembly Election was held on 16 May 2016 for the 232 seats (except Thanjavur and Aravakurichi for which held on 26 October 2016) of the Legislative Assembly in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. AIADMK under J. Jayalalithaa won the elections and became the first ruling party to be re-elected in Tamil Nadu since 1984, though with a simple majority. DMK won half of the seats it contested but its allies performed poorly; notably, the Indian National Congress won 16% of the seats they contested and the alliance lost due to its poor performance. The votes were counted on 19 May 2016. In the previous election in 2011, AIADMK, under the leadership of Jayalalithaa, won a thumping majority and formed the government, while DMDK chief Vijayakanth served as the Leader of Opposition until January 2016. Silambu Express
The Silambu Express (20681/20682) is a train that runs between and via . Initially it ran up to Manamadurai, later it was extended up to Sengottai. It was the only train in Indian Railways where LHB rakes were replaced by ICF coaches again. According to IR if a train gets new LHB coaches it won't be converted to ICF. But this train was again replaced with ICF coaches after getting new LHB rakes. History The name of the train commemorates the Kannagi or (Kannaki), a legendary Tamil woman who is the main character of the South Indian epic Silapathikaram (100–300 CE) who used the Silambu as the only item for saving her husband. To remember this story, the train was named the "Silambu Express". It is a standard train consisting of commercial coaches.
