''Timeline'' (subtitled ''An Introduction to The Vision Bleak'') is a compilation album by German gothic metal band The Vision Bleak. Their first compilation album ever, it was announced on 27 March 2016 and released on 3 June (the same release date of their sixth studio album, '' The Unknown'') by Prophecy Productions. The Vision Bleak
The Vision Bleak is a German gothic metal duo comprising Ulf Theodor Schwadorf (famous for his work with Empyrium and Noekk) and Allen B. Konstanz. The group's lyrics are noted for their horror themes and heavily allude to works of classic writers/filmmakers of the genre, such as H. P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, George A. Romero and John Carpenter, among others. They self-describe their musical style, which mixes gothic metal, doom metal, symphonic metal and horror punk aesthetics, as "horror metal". History The Vision Bleak was formed in 2000, in the Bavarian city of Mellrichstadt, by Markus Stock (a.k.a. Ulf Theodor Schwadorf) and Tobias Schönemann (a.k.a. Allen B. Konstanz). Gothic metal (or goth metal) is a fusion genre combining the aggression of heavy metal with the dark atmospheres of gothic rock. The music of gothic metal is diverse with bands known to adopt the gothic approach to different styles of heavy metal music. The genre originated during the early 1990s in the United Kingdom originally as an outgrowth of death-doom, a fusion of death metal and doom metal. ''The Unknown'' is the sixth studio album by German gothic metal band The Vision Bleak, released on 3 June 2016 through Prophecy Productions. The album was announced by the band on their official Facebook page on 31 October 2015, and a teaser EP containing two tracks that eventually appeared in it, entitled ''The Kindred of the Sunset'', came out on 25 March 2016. A deluxe two-CD box set, containing two bonus tracks, was also released. The album's cover was provided by Dan Seagrave and was unveiled on 20 March 2016. Track listing The album's track list was unveiled on 24 March 2016.
