"Time to Get Alone" is a song by the American rock band the Beach Boys from their 1969 album ''20/20''. Written by Brian Wilson and produced by Carl Wilson, it is a baroque pop waltz. Brian originally intended the song for Redwood, the band that evolved into Three Dog Night. Recording Brian Wilson originally planned to give the song (along with " Darlin'") to Redwood. The group began recording on October 12, 1967 while in the midst of sessions for the Beach Boys' '' Wild Honey'' (1967). Strings and horns overdubs were added on October 14 with drums and percussion on October 15. Danny Hutton recounted: After one vocal session, Brian exited the booth and called up his astrologer, who told him that he was on a "down cycle". The Beach Boys are an American Rock music, rock band that formed in Hawthorne, California, in 1961. Merlyn Ray Pohlman (July 22, 1930 – November 1, 1990) was an American session musician and arranger who played both upright bass and bass guitar, and also did sessions as a guitarist. He is credited with being the first electric bass player in Los Angeles studios in the 1950s. Biography Pohlman was a first-call member of The Wrecking Crew, who recorded with Phil Spector and The Beach Boys. He was the musical director of the house band, "The Shindogs", on the 1960s television show ''Shindig!'' Jay Migliori (November 14, 1930 – September 2, 2001) was an American saxophonist, best known as a founding member of Supersax, a tribute band to Charlie Parker. Biography Migliori started playing the saxophone after he received one as a birthday present at the age of twelve. He attended a music school in St. Louis, and after serving in the Air Force, went to the Berklee College of Music. He made his first recording in 1955, and soon joined up with Woody Herman's band. After leaving the band, he would then move to Los Angeles, where he became a session musician playing on an estimated 4,000 commercial recordings. Michael Edward Love (born March 15, 1941) is an American singer and songwriter who co-founded the Beach Boys with his cousins Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson and their friend Al Jardine. Alan Charles Jardine (born September 3, 1942) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter who co-founded the Beach Boys. He is best known as the band's rhythm guitarist and for occasionally singing lead vocals on singles such as "Help Me, Rhonda" (1965), " Then I Kissed Her" (1965), "Cotton Fields" (1970), and "Come Go with Me" (1978). His song "Lady Lynda" was also a UK top 10 hit for the group in 1978. Brian Wilson's Home Studio
Beach Boys Studio (also known as Brother Records Studio, Brother Recording Studio, and 10452 Bellagio Road) was a private recording studio owned by the Beach Boys. It was located within Brian Wilson's home at 10452 Bellagio Road in Los Angeles. Six of the band's albums were recorded there in addition to his " Bedroom Tapes". In 1972, the studio was dismantled and later succeeded by Brother Studios in Santa Monica, California. Background The studio was built in 1967 due to various issues Wilson regularly experienced when working at commercial studios, such as being hassled by owners for touching the control board (a violation of union regulations), as well as to eliminate the inconvenience of booking time in advance.
