Time And Materials (album)
''Time and Materials'' is the first collaborative studio album by Serengeti & Open Mike Eagle, released under the group moniker Cavanaugh. It was released on Mello Music Group on November 19, 2015. Entirely produced by Open Mike Eagle, it features guest appearances from P.O.S, Hemlock Ernst, and Busdriver. It is a concept album about "a couple of maintenance veterans named Dave and Mike who work in Cavanaugh, a fictional mixed-income housing unit in the also-fictional town of Detroit, Florida." Critical reception Nate Patrin of '' Pitchfork'' gave the album a 7.2 out of 10, writing, "for his first full-length production job, Mike sets a tone as raw-nerved and abrasively contemplative as the concept demands." Brett Uddenberg of '' San Diego Reader'' wrote, "this is a dense and diverse record that plays to the songwriting strengths of Mike and Serengeti and hints at greater things to come as their partnership evolves." Serengeti (rapper)
David Cohn, better known by his stage name Serengeti, is an American rapper from Chicago, Illinois. Early life Serengeti is the great-nephew of jazz trumpeter Sonny Cohn. He grew up in various places in Chicago, Illinois, as his parents divorced when he was 5 years old. At the age of 12, he got into hip hop. He started writing verses while attending Morgan Park High School. He attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he became friends with Open Mike Eagle. He graduated from the university in 2001 with a degree in history. Career In 2007, Serengeti released the first collaborative album with producer Polyphonic, titled '' Don't Give Up''. The duo released their second collaborative album, ''Terradactyl'', in 2009. In 2011, Serengeti released his solo album, '' Family & Friends'', which was produced by Yoni Wolf and Owen Ashworth. Kevin Marques Moo (born 1974), better known by his stage name Daddy Kev, is an American DJ, Grammy Award-winning audio engineer, record producer and executive from Los Angeles, California. He is the owner of Alpha Pup Records and the founder of Low End Theory. As an audio engineer, Daddy Kev has mixed and mastered albums by Flying Lotus, Thundercat, Kamasi Washington, and Leon Bridges. Michael W. Eagle II (born November 14, 1980), better known by his stage name Open Mike Eagle, is an American hip hop artist and comedian. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, he is now based in Los Angeles, California, where he is a member of the hip hop collective Project Blowed. He has also been a member of Thirsty Fish, Swim Team, and Cavanaugh. Early life Mike grew up in Chicago's Robert Taylor Homes and lived with his grandparents until he was 13 at which point he moved in with his mother. Mike also has a younger brother and sister. He attended Whitney M. Young Magnet High School and went on to Southern Illinois University Carbondale where he majored in psychology.
