Tiger Bay (1934 Film)
''Tiger Bay'' is a 1934 British film directed by J. Elder Wills and starring the Chinese-American actor Anna May Wong. The film is about a young Englishman abroad, Michael, who deliberately visits a tough Chinese district of Tiger Bay to test his strength. He falls in love with Letty at Lui Chang's nightclub and battles a protection racket. Meanwhile, Lui fends off Olaf and his cronies, who attempt to intimidate Fay and Lui. Anna May Wong
Wong Liu Tsong (January 3, 1905 – February 3, 1961), known professionally as Anna May Wong, was an American actress, considered the first Chinese-American movie star in Hollywood, as well as the first Chinese-American actress to gain international recognition. Her varied career spanned silent film, sound film, television, stage, and radio. As one of the first women depicted on the reverse of the quarter in the 2022–2025 American Women quarters series, she is also the first Asian American to appear on a U.S. coin. Born in Los Angeles to second-generation Taishanese Chinese-American parents, Wong became infatuated with films and began acting in films at an early age. Henry Victor
Henry Victor (2 October 1892 – 15 March 1945) was an English-born character actor who had his highest profile in the film silent era, he appeared in numerous film roles in Britain, before emigrating to the US in 1939 where he continued his career. Biography Victor was born in London, England, but was raised in Germany, he made his film debut as Prince Andreas in '' The King's Romance'' (1914). He appeared in literary interpreted pieces such as ''The Picture of Dorian Gray'' (1916) and the Graham Cutts-directed '' The White Shadow'' (1923). Victor is probably best remembered for his portrayal of the circus strongman Hercules in Tod Browning's film '' Freaks'' (1932). Lawrence Randall Grossmith (29 March 1877 – 21 February 1944) was an English actor, the son of the Gilbert and Sullivan performer George Grossmith and the brother of the actor-manager George Grossmith Jr. After establishing his career in Edwardian musical comedy in London from the first years of the 20th century until the First World War (except for a brief period in the U.S.), Grossmith left England on an extensive tour of the U.S. and Australia, playing in both musicals and non-musical plays. Walter Sydney Vinnicombe (26 September 1888 – 27 October 1970) was an English actor and comedian. He worked in film, television and theatre. Biography Vinnicombe was born in Willesden, Middlesex and began working on the music hall stages in 1912 and at regular theatres in 1938 at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.
