In Spain, a ''comarca'' (, sing. ''comarca'') is either a traditional territorial division without any formal basis, or a group of municipalities, legally defined by an autonomous community for the purpose of providing common local government services. Garcihernández
Garcihernández is a village and municipality in the province of Salamanca, western Spain, part of the autonomous community of Castile-Leon. It is located from the provincial capital city of Salamanca and has a population of 590 people. It was the location of the Battle of Garcia Hernandez in 1812, during the Peninsular War. Geography The municipality covers an area of . It lies above sea level and the post code is 37810. Economy The basis of the economy is agriculture. Garcihernández has resisted the large-scale abandonment of most of the villages of the Alba de Tormes area due to urban developments in the 1990s in Spain.
