''Ticket of Leave'' is a 1936 British crime film directed by Michael Hankinson and starring Dorothy Boyd, John Clements (actor), John Clements and George Merritt (actor), George Merritt. It was made as a quota quickie at British and Dominions Elstree Studios by the British subsidiary of Paramount Pictures. The screenplay concerns a woman who joins forces with a criminal after he robs her apartment, flat.Chibnall p.286 The title refers to the ticket of leave given to prisoners when they were released from jail. Michael Kyrle le Fleming Hankinson (11 February 1905 –) was a British screenwriter, film editor and film director, director. An apartment (American English), or flat (British English, Indian English, South African English), is a self-contained housing unit (a type of residential real estate) that occupies part of a building, generally on a single story.
