Tianshui Railway Station
Tianshui railway station () is a station on Longhai railway in Tianshui, Gansu. The station is served by the Tianshui Tram, which opened in 2020. Since 2017, Tianshui has also been served by Tianshui South railway station on the Xi'an–Baoji High-Speed Railway. History The station was established in 1948, and was the westernmost and last station built by the government of ROC in mainland China. The current station building was completed in 1989 and renovated in 2017. The renovation project was finished on 31 January 2018. Maiji District
Maiji District () is a district of the prefecture-level city of Tianshui in the southeast of Gansu, Gansu Province, China, bordering Shaanxi, Shaanxi Province to the east. It is best known for, and named after, the Maijishan Grottoes. Before 2005 it was called Beidao District. Maiji District is subdivided in 17 towns (containing 379 villages), 3 subdistricts (containing 35 residential communities). 69% of the population is rural. 68% of the district's area is covered in forest. Tianshui is the second-largest cities in Gansu, city in Gansu list of Chinese provinces, Province, China. Side Platform
A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. A station having dual side platforms, one for each direction of travel, is the basic design used for double-track railway lines (as opposed to, for instance, the island platform where a single platform lies between the tracks). Island Platforms
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. Tianshui Tram
Tianshui Tram is a light rail system consisting of one route in Qinzhou District and Maiji District, Tianshui, Gansu, China. History Construction started on July 15, 2018 and testing started in March 2019 on a 600 meter long test section. The total investment for the project is estimated at 2.446 billion Yuan. The first phase started commercial operation on May 1, 2020. In 2024 it was reported that the single completed tram line operates at a huge loss, having a CNY 16 million annual passenger revenue while having a CNY 40 million annual operating cost. The tram project's financial burden on the city's finances have led to construction of phase 2 of the first line to be delayed. The Xi'an–Baoji high-speed railway, or Xibao Passenger Dedicated Line is a high-speed railway operated by China Railway High-speed between Xi'an and Baoji, in Shaanxi province.
