Thyreus Denolii
''Thyreus denolli'' is an African species of Kleptoparasitism, kleptoparisitic bee. It belongs to the tribe Melectini and to the genus ''Thyreus'', the members of which are often referred to as 'Cuckoo bees', due to their Parasitism, parasitic behaviour. It is one of the most distinctive ''Thyreus'' bees in Cape Verde. History The species was first described in 2012, and was named after the Genoese navigator António de Noli, who after being exiled from his home country discovered the Cape Verde Islands around 1456 while he was working for Portugal. ''T. denolii,'' along with the other species of ''Thyreus'' found in Cape Verde, closely resembles the species ''Thyreus hohmanni,'' as well as the more widespread ''Thyreus ramosus''. ''T. hohmanni'' is endemic to the Canary Islands, another macronesian archipelago. It is thus possible that the ''Thyreus'' bees of Cape Verde came from the Canary Islands, and separated into separate species across the Cape Verde islands. Similarly, ...

Africa
Africa is the world's second-largest and second-most populous continent, after Asia in both cases. At about 30.3 million km2 (11.7 million square miles) including adjacent islands, it covers 6% of Earth's total surface area and 20% of its land area.Sayre, April Pulley (1999), ''Africa'', Twenty-First Century Books. . With billion people as of , it accounts for about of the world's human population. Africa's population is the youngest amongst all the continents; the median age in 2012 was 19.7, when the worldwide median age was 30.4. Despite a wide range of natural resources, Africa is the least wealthy continent per capita and second-least wealthy by total wealth, behind Oceania. Scholars have attributed this to different factors including geography, climate, tribalism, colonialism, the Cold War, neocolonialism, lack of democracy, and corruption. Despite this low concentration of wealth, recent economic expansion and the large and young population make Afr ...

Sal, Cape Verde
Sal (Portuguese for "salt") is an island in Cape Verde. Sal is a tourist destination with white sandy beaches and over 350 days of sunshine a year. It is one of the three sandy eastern islands of the Cape Verde archipelago in the central Atlantic Ocean, off the west coast of Africa. Cabo Verde is known for year-round kiteboarding, for the large reserve of Caretta turtles which hatch from July to September, and the music of Cesaria Evora. History For Europeans , the island was discovered on 3 December 1460 and named ''Llana'' ("flat"). This name was changed into the current "Sal" when the two large salt ponds (Pedra de Lume and Santa Maria) were discovered. The first three centuries after its discovery, the island was only sparsely inhabited; in 1720 there was a small fishing village near present Palmeira. This changed when the salt industry was developed at the end of the 18th century, starting in Pedra de Lume. Santa Maria was founded in the south of the island in 1830 by ...

Melectini
The Melectini are a tribe of medium- to large-sized apid bees found essentially worldwide. They are brood parasites of the related typical digger bees (Anthophorini) and occasionally visit flowers e.g. in prairie landscapes of the United States.Stephen, W.P.; Bohart, G.E. & Torchio, P.F. (1969): ''The Biology and External Morphology of Bees, With a Synopsis of the Genera of Northwestern America''. Oregon State University Press, Corvallis, OregonPDF fulltext/ref> As in other cuckoo bees, females can be easily distinguished from those of their hosts by the lack of scopae and other pollen-collecting adaptations, as well as lacking prepygidial fimbria and basitibial plates. Their body hair is rather short and on the abdomen lies flat against the exoskeleton. They may, therefore, be difficult at first glance to distinguish from the Nomadinae Nomadinae is a subfamily of bees in the family Apidae. They are known commonly as cuckoo bees. This subfamily is entirely kleptopar ...

Amegilla
''Amegilla'' is a large genus of bees in the tribe Anthophorini. Several species have blue metallic bands on the abdomen, and are referred to as "blue-banded bees" and "digger bees". One of their names in english, "digger bees" is given to them because they dig up a hole in dry ground and make it their nest. The genus occurs all around the world but very few live above 45° North. Amegilla are associated with arid and subarid biomes, matorrals, steppes, sub-deserts and deserts. All of Amegilla are solitary species. They are also very fast, agid flyers, and because of this, some taxa are close to imposible to catch. Selected species * ''Amegilla bombiformis'' ( Smith, 1854) * ''Amegilla calens'' ( Lepeletier, 1841) * ''Amegilla canifrons'' (Smith, 1854) * ''Amegilla confusa'' (Smith, 1854) * '' Amegilla dawsoni'' (Rayment, 1951) * ''Amegilla quadrifasciata'' ( Villers, 1789) * ''Amegilla violacea'' ( Lepeletier, 1841) * ''Amegilla mucorea'' (Klug, 1845) * ''Amegilla fallax'' ...

Tergum
A ''tergum'' (Latin for "the back"; plural ''terga'', associated adjective tergal) is the Anatomical terms of location#Dorsal and ventral, dorsal ('upper') portion of an arthropod segment other than the head. The Anatomical terms of location#Anterior and posterior, anterior edge is called the 'base' and posterior edge is called the 'apex' or 'margin'. A given tergum may be divided into hardened plates or sclerites commonly referred to as tergites. In a Thorax (insect anatomy), thoracic segment, for example, the tergum may be divided into an anterior notum and a posterior Scutellum (insect), scutellum. Lateral extensions of a tergite are known as paranota (Greek for "alongside the back") or ''carinae'' (Latin for "keel"), exemplified by the flat-backed millipedes of the order Polydesmida. Kinorhynchs have tergal and sternal plates too, though seemingly not homologous with those of arthropods. Tergo-tergal is a stridulation, stridulatory mechanism in which fine spines of the abdom ...

Facial Aspect Of Thyreus Denolii From Boavista - ZooKeys-218-077-g004
A facial is a family of skin care treatments for the face, including steam, exfoliation (physical and chemical), extraction, creams, lotions, facial masks, peels, and massage. They are normally performed in beauty salons, but are also a common spa treatment. They are used for general skin health as well as for specific skin conditions. Types of facials include European facial, LED light therapy facials, hydrafacials and mini-facials. Facial mask There are different kinds of masks (e.g., clay, cactus, cucumber) for different purposes: deep-cleansing, by penetrating the pores; healing acne scars or hyper-pigmentation; brightening, for a gradual illumination of the skin tone. Facial masks also help with anti-aging, acne, crows feet, under eye bags, sagging lids, dark circles, puffiness, and more. Some masks are designed to dry or solidify on the face, almost like plaster; others just remain wet. The perceived effects of a facial mask treatment include revitalizing, ...

Santiago, Cape Verde
Santiago (Portuguese for “ Saint James”) is the largest island of Cape Verde, its most important agricultural centre and home to half the nation's population. Part of the Sotavento Islands, it lies between the islands of Maio ( to the east) and Fogo ( to the west). It was the first of the islands to be settled: the town of Ribeira Grande (now Cidade Velha and a UNESCO World Heritage Site) was founded in 1462. Santiago is home to the nation's capital city of Praia. History The eastern side of the nearby island of Fogo collapsed into the ocean 73,000 years ago, creating a tsunami 170 meters high which struck Santiago. In 1460, António de Noli became the first to visit the island. Da Noli settled at ''Ribeira Grande'' (now Cidade Velha) with his family members and Portuguese from Algarve and Alentejo in 1462.Valor simbóli ...
