Thomas Wallace (Irish MP)
Thomas Wallace (13 April 1765 – 9 January 1847) was an Irish Whig Party politician who sat in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Yarmouth from 1827 to 1830, from 1831 to 1835 for Drogheda and then for County Carlow. Wallace was a Dublin barrister. He stood unsuccessfully at Drogheda at the general elections in 1818, 1820, 1826 before being elected as a Tory for Yarmouth at a by-election in August 1827. He held the Yarmouth seat until the 1830 general election, when he did not defend the seat. He contested Drogheda again in 1831, before winning the seat at an unopposed by-election in October 1831. Thomas Wallace, 1st Baron Wallace, PC DCL FRSE (1768 – 23 February 1844) was an English politician holding multiple key roles in the government. Early life Wallace was born at Brampton in 1768, the son of James Wallace (1729–1783), a barrister who served as Solicitor General for England and Wales and as Attorney General to George III, and his wife, Elizabeth Simpson, the only daughter and sole heiress of Thomas Simpson Esq., of Carleton Hall, Cumberland. He was educated at Eton College from 1777 to 1784. He then studied at Christ Church at Oxford University, graduating MA in 1790. Following the death of his father in 1783, he inherited (at age 15) Carleton Hall, which lies near Penrith, Cumbria. In 1793 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. His proposers were Andrew Dalzell, Henry Brougham and Alexander Fraser Tytler. He sold the Carleton estate in 1828 to John Cowper. He was the son of James Fagan and Katherine Griffiths. Thomas George Wallace (May 7, 1879 – February 20, 1921) was a Canadian Member of Parliament for the Ontario ridings of York Centre and York West. Wallace was born in Ottawa, Ontario, on May 7, 1879, and served as a private in the Royal Canadian Regiment during the Second Boer War, serving overseas in South Africa. He later worked as a merchant and miller before being elected to the House of Commons as a member of the Conservative Party for the riding of York Centre in the 1908 federal election. He was re-elected in 1911. Thomas Sellar Wallace, MM (1896 – October 8, 1935) was a British-born Canadian police officer who was killed in the 1935 Royal Canadian Mounted Police Killings. On 8 October 1935, Wallace was shot in the chest by one of the fugitives in the incident on the outskirts of Banff, Alberta, succumbing to his wounds later that day. He had previously earned a distinguished service record in the British Army during World War I. He emigrated to Canada and joined the Alberta Provincial Police after the war in 1921, before it was amalgamated with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police by 1932 and had been a law enforcement officer in Alberta for 14 years before his death. Thomas Wallace (RAF Officer)
Thomas Young Wallace (5 October 1916 – 11 November 1944) was a South African fighter pilot and flying ace of the Royal Air Force (RAF). He was credited with at least six aerial victories during the Second World War. From Johannesburg, Wallace joined the RAF in 1939 and once his training was completed in June the following year was posted as a pilot officer to No. 610 Squadron. He lost his commission after a court-martial for being absent without leave but promptly joined the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was posted to No. 111 Squadron and flying a Hawker Hurricane fighter achieved a number of aerial victories during the Battle of Britain. He spent the next three years of his war service in non-operational roles until September 1944, when he was given command of No. 609 Squadron. Thomas William Wallace (born 1 March 1936) is a former Australian politician. He was born in Sale to Harold Roy Wallace, a farmer, and Phyllis Violet. He attended Kilmany State School and Sale Technical School before becoming a grazier. He was active in the local community and in the National Party, and he was elected to Rosedale Shire Council in 1975, serving until 1982 (president 1980–81). In 1982 he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly as the member for Gippsland South. While in parliament he was the party spokesman on housing, employment and training. In 1992 he left his seat to challenge Labor MLA Keith Hamilton in Morwell, but he was defeated.
