Thomas Phillips RA (18 October 177020 April 1845) was a leading English portrait and subject painter. He painted many of the great men of the day including scientists, artists, writers, poets and explorers. Life and work Phillips was born at Dudley, then in Worcestershire. Having learnt glass-painting in Birmingham under Francis Eginton, he visited London in 1790 with an introduction to Benjamin West, who found him employment on the painted-glass windows of St George's Chapel at Windsor. In 1791 he became a student at the Royal Academy, where, in 1792 he exhibited a view of Windsor Castle, followed in the next two years by the "Death of Talbot, Earl of Shrewsbury, at the Battle of Castillon", "Ruth and Naomi", "Elijah restoring the Widow's Son", "Cupid disarmed by Euphrosyne", and other pictures. Tom Phillips (June 29, 1956) is a Republican member of the Kansas House of Representatives, representing the 67th district. His term began February 1, 2012 upon the resignation of his predecessor Susan Mosier. Phillips was chosen by 21 of the 39 GOP precinct representatives in the 67th district on the condition that he would seek reelection in 2012. Phillips was elected to a full term in the November 2012 general election, defeating Democrat Aaron Estabrook. Phillips is owner of Phillips & Associates, a land surveying company that was established in 1992. He had previous political experience as a city commissioner and mayor of Manhattan, Kansas. Tom Phillips (rugby Union)
Tom Phillips (born 13 February 1996) is a Welsh rugby union player who plays for Llanelli RFC as a flanker. Career Phillips made his debut for the Scarlets regional team in 2015 having previously played for the Scarlets academy. Phillips captained Wales U20 during their Grand Slam campaign in 2016. He was released by the Scarlets at the end of the 2020–2021 season, but rejoined as injury cover at the start of the next season. Phillips suffered a serious injury on his return, and played no further part in their campaign, again leaving the club at the end of the season. Phillips was named captain of Llanelli RFC ahead of the 2022–2023 season, and was also named as a skills coach for the Scarlets Academy, continuing his involvement with the club. Tom Phillips (born 7 May 1996) is an Australian rules footballer who most recently played for the Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early and personal life Phillips grew up in Melbourne. He participated in the Auskick program at Milgate Primary School in Doncaster East, Victoria. He attended Caulfield Grammar School, where he excelled at Australian rules football and running. His uncle, Andrew Phillips played 42 games for Carlton. His younger brother Ed Phillips played for St Kilda. State football Phillips played for the Oakleigh Chargers in the TAC Cup, appearing in 12 games and winning a premiership with them in the 2014 season. Thomas Neil Phillips (May 22, 1883 – November 30, 1923) was a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger. Like other players of his era, Phillips played for several different teams and leagues. Most notable for his time with the Kenora Thistles, Phillips also played with the Montreal Hockey Club, the Ottawa Hockey Club, the Toronto Marlboros and the Vancouver Millionaires. Over the course of his career Phillips participated in six challenges for the Stanley Cup, the championship trophy of hockey, winning twice: with the Montreal Hockey Club in 1903 and with the Kenora Thistles, which he captained, in January 1907. Following his playing career, Phillips worked in the lumber industry until his death in 1923.
